  • John Jay Alvaro

    Lead Pastor

As far back as I can remember, church was a part of my family's life. I was baptized as a young boy, when belief was still simple  and comforting. I was lucky to have married my best friend, and she still laughs at my stupid jokes after 14 years. Our kids are just the coolest humans I know. We love to be outside, climbing trees and riding scooters/skateboards/bikes/anything-with-wheels.  I studied architecture and studio art in undergrad, which have been great  foundations for how I approach ministry and preaching.  I went to seminary at Duke Divinity School in Durham, and have worked in Dallas and most recently Oklahoma City in some great baptist churches. I read way too many books, and buy more books than I have time to read. I love coffee until 3pm, then I hate it. I also love sleep, hence the fickle affection for coffee late in  the day. I have found that following Jesus is rarely easy, but it is always good. I will keep my eyes open to the sacred pulsing in the ordinary rhythms of life, and you do the same. You can contact me at johnjay@fbcpasadena.com.

  • Tedd Szeto

    Director of Worship Ministries

Dr. Tedd Szeto has served as Director of Worship Ministries since 2006. He understands the privilege it is to worship God communally through music, and is thankful for the opportunity to discover imaginative ways to encounter Christ through the creative arts. Tedd and his wife, Joanna, and their children, JP, Tabitha, and Deacon live in San Dimas. When he isn't busy playing with his children, Tedd splits his time between singing, acting, conducting, and teaching. He is a recognized worship leader in the ABC, having served at Biennial meetings, World Mission conferences, and the National Baptist Youth gathering. Tedd has a PhD from UCLA and has held faculty positions at UCLA, Harvey Mudd College, and currently, Azusa Pacific University where he is Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Tedd grew up at FBCP and, after ten years serving as Worship Director in another church, he is excited to be home. Contact: tedd@fbcpasadena.com .

  • Colin DeFalco

    Assistant Pastor

I grew up in Las Vegas, NV and went to college in Phoenix to learn more about Christianity. I've continued my studies at Fuller Seminary to explore how the Bible engages everyday life. Before becoming the Assistant Pastor at FBCP I served as the church's intern over discipleship. Outside of church I enjoy discovering new, tasty foods, playing soccer, and watching movies, to name a few. My favorite thing, though, is spending time with family and friends around the table. When we gather around good food, sharing stories and laughing together, I am reminded of the great wedding feast spoken of in the Bible. I look forward to that day when all is made right, and we get to celebrate together with God. Contact: colin@fbcpasadena.com

  • Lindsay Conkle

    Youth Ministry

I came to FBCP in 2008 and was immediately struck by this warm, welcoming family of faith. During the week I teach English to middle and high school students, and working with youth has always been a passion of mine. God has graciously opened doors for me to step into ministry with the youth at FBCP, and I absolutely love spending time with the kids and with the other youth leaders. God has used the youth to teach me and grow my faith in ways that I could not have anticipated, and it's a privilege to study His word and walk the journey of faith with this church family and such a special group of young adults.

  • Suzy Cronin

    Administrative Assistant

Suzy Cronin has been a member of FBCP since coming here with her parents in high school. She has 4 children--three duaghters and a son. Her son is in the Army, and two of her daughters attend here with Suzy. Her youngest daughter is a softball wiz, that keeps her very busy. Suzy has been active in many areas of our church over the years. Currently she sings in the church choir. If you ask her, she can tell you all about being in the highschool department with our very own Tedd Szeto. Suzy enjoys working in the church office at FBCP. Each day is different, and she likes meeting and helping all the people that come here daily.

  • Cynthia Kirby

    Administrative Assistant

God first led me to FBCP in 2012 for a Midweek Bible study. I felt so accepted and loved on as a new Christian that I quickly chose to make this my church home. My husband and I were both baptized here together in September 2013 and married in the Chapel in January of 2014. My deepest passions are studying the Word, worship and working with children. As I have grown in my relationship with Christ, the Lord has blessed me with opportunities to serve in Children’s Ministry, Choir and as a small group leader. This past summer, I joined the church staff as the Interim Children’s Ministry Coordinator and will now be staying on as an Administrative Assistant.
