Liturgy for wherever you are
Pentecost Sunday | Romans 16:1-16
May 28th, 2023
welcome to WORSHIP
Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. Glorious Day
Jason Ingram | Jonathan Smith | Kristian Stanfill | Sean Curran
I was buried beneath my shame
Who could carry that kind of weight
It was my tomb 'til I met You
I was breathing but not alive
All my failures I tried to hide
It was my tomb 'til I met You
You called my name, and I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness into Your glorious day
You called my name, and I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness into Your glorious day
Now Your mercy has saved my soul
Now Your freedom is all that I know
The old made new Jesus when I met You
I needed rescue my sin was heavy
But chains break at the weight of Your glory
I needed shelter I was an orphan
Now You call me a citizen of Heaven
When I was broken You were my healing
Now Your love is the air that I'm breathing
I have a future my eyes are open
Great are You, Lord
David Leonard | Jason Ingram | Leslie Jordan
You give life You are love
You bring light to the darkness
You give hope You restore ev'ry heart that is broken
Great are You Lord
It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise
We pour out our praise
It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to You only
And all the earth will shout Your praise
Our hearts will cry these bones will sing
Great are You Lord
Blessed Assurance
Fanny Jane Crosby | Phoebe Palmer Knapp
Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
Perfect submission, perfect delight!
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending, bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.
Perfect submission all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blessed;
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
Take My Life and Let It Be
Frances Ridley Havergal | Henri Abraham Cesar Malan
Take my life and let it be
Consecrated Lord to Thee
Take my moments and my days
Let them flow in ceaseless praise
Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee
Take my will and make it Thine
It shall be no longer mine
Take my heart it is Thine own
It shall be Thy royal throne
Take my love my Lord I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store
Take myself and I will be
Ever only all for Thee

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! Chip welcomed us and invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. John Jay shared a gratitude for our new intern, Riley. Jenn called us into worship. John Jay and Chip welcomed new members. Angel led us in communal prayer. Tyler read scripture. John Jay provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Tina invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Our musicians this morning were Leslie, Cindie, Cynthia, Jonathan, Jason C, Rick, and Galvin. Chip reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Leslie oversaw the production while Harriet worked her technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.
Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
