Liturgy for wherever you are

Second Sunday of Epiphany | Genesis 32:22-32

January 14, 2024

welcome to WORSHIP

Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. In Jesus’ Name

Darlene Zschech | Israel Houghton

God is fighting for us God is on our side
God has overcome yes
God has overcome
We will not be shaken we will not be moved
Jesus You are here

Carrying our burdens covering our shame
God has overcome yes
God has overcome
We will not be shaken we will not be moved
Jesus You are here

I will live I will not die
The resurrection pow'r of Christ
Alive in me and I am free
In Jesus' Name

I will live I will not die
I will declare and lift You high
Christ revealed and I am healed
In Jesus' Name

God is fighting for us pushing back the darkness
Lighting up the Kingdom that cannot be shaken
In the Name of Jesus enemy's defeated
And we will shout it out shout it out

Every Praise

Hezekiah Walker | John David Bratton

Every praise is to our God
Every word of worship with one accord
Every praise every praise is to our God
Sing hallelujah to our God
Glory hallelujah is due our God
Every praise every praise is to our God

God my Savior
God my Healer
God my Deliverer
Yes He is yes He is

Every praise is to our God
Every word of worship with one accord
Every praise every praise
Every praise every praise
Every praise every praise is to our God

We Shall Overcome

Louise Shropshire

We Shall Overcome, we shall overcome
We shall overcome someday.
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We shall overcome someday.

We’ll walk hand in hand, we’ll walk hand in hand,
We’ll walk hand in hand someday.
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We’ll walk hand in hand someday.

The Lord will see us through, the Lord will see us through,
The Lord will see us through someday.
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
The Lord will see us through someday.

Way Maker

Light in the darkness my God that is who You are

Light in the darkness my God that is who You are

You are here turning lives around
I worship You, I worship You
You are here mending ev’ry heart

That is who You are
That is who You are

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! John Jay and Lindsay welcomed us and invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. John Jay called us into worship. Lindsay introduced our guest choir, the Urban Voices Project. Bailey led us in communal prayer. Nicole I-H. read scripture. Chip and Tyler provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Bill G. invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Our musicians this morning were Leslie, Warren, Dave, Cindie, Rick, Scott and the Urban Voices Project. John Jay and Lindsay reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Leslie oversaw the production while Kenny worked his technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.

Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
