Liturgy for wherever you are
Third Sunday after Epiphany
January 23, 2022
welcome to WORSHIP
Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ.

Open the Eyes of My Heart
Paul Baloche
Open the eyes of my heart Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You
I want to see You
To see You high and lifted up
Shining in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy holy holy
Holy holy holy
Holy holy holy
Holy holy holy
I want to see You
Reckless Love
Caleb Culver | Cory Asbury | Ran Jackson
Before I spoke a word, You were singing over me
You have been so, so good to me
Before I took a breath, You breathed Your life in me
You have been so, so kind to me
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights 'til I'm found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn't earn it, I don't deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
When I was Your foe, still Your love fought for me
You have been so, so good to me
When I felt no worth, You paid it all for me
You have been so, so kind to me
There's no shadow You won't light up
Mountain You won't climb up
Coming after me
There's no wall You won't kick down
Lie You won't tear down
Coming after me
God I Look to You
Ian McIntosh | Jenn Johnson
God I look to You
I won't be overwhelmed
Give me vision to see things like You do
God I look to You
You're where my help comes from
Give me wisdom You know just what to do
I will love You Lord my strength
I will love You Lord my shield
I will love You Lord my rock
Forever all my days I will love You God
Hallelujah our God reigns
Hallelujah our God reigns
Hallelujah our God reigns
Forever all our days hallelujah
My Hope is Built on Nothing Less
Charlie Hall | Edward Mote | Kendall Combes | Trent Austin | William Batchelder Bradbury
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus' name
On Christ the solid Rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In ev’ry high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me in the whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way
He then is all my hope and stay
When He shall come with trumpet sound
O may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless to stand before the throne

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s liturgy service! John Jay welcomed us into our service and led us in our call to worship after Jesse and Corrie provided us with a hearty dose of gratitude. Nori led us in a time of communal prayer before we listened to Marcie read Scripture. John Jay provided us with a teaching to feed our spirits and returned at the end to offer up the benediction. Chip invited us into a time of generosity through our offering while Nat provided the offertory. Our other music makers this morning were Leslie, Astyn, Stormie, Cindie, Dave, Rick, and Denise. Chip reminded us of the ways we’re invited to participate in the life of our community and God’s loving work here at FBCP as well as in Pasadena. Leslie oversaw the production while Harriet worked her technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.
Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
