Liturgy for wherever you are
Fourth Sunday after Epiphany
January 29, 2023
welcome to WORSHIP
Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ.
Listening to the Livestream
A little before 10:30 AM you should see a play button (circle with a triangle in it) appear on the right side of the box below. It will be visible where you currently see the circle of dots. Press that play button when it appears, and you should be able to hear the service live! We always start the livestream a few minutes before the service begins, so you may hear some chatter or worship music playing at first. Know that you are with us in Spirit as you worship from wherever you are.
Lyrics*
He Is Faithful
Bryan Torwalt
I have heard a sound coming on the wind
Changing hearts and minds healing brokenness
I feel a generation breaking through despair
I hear a generation full of faith declare
And our song it will be
Out of the darkness we will rise and sing
He is faithful He is glorious
And He is Jesus and all my hope is in Him
He is freedom He is healing right now
He is hope and joy love and peace and life
I have seen a light like the break of dawn
Showing us the path, making all things new
I see a generation with resurrection life
We are a generation filled with the power of Christ
He has paid the highest price
He has proven His great love for us
We will praise Him with our lives
And proclaim our love for Him
My Hope is Built on Nothing Less
Charlie Hall | Edward Mote | Kendall Combes | Trent Austin | William Batchelder Bradbury
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus' name
On Christ the solid Rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In ev’ry high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me in the whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way
He then is all my hope and stay
When He shall come with trumpet sound
O may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless to stand before the throne
Your Glory/Nothing But the Blood
Leslie Jordan / Robert Lowry
My life is Yours
And my hope is in You only
And my heart You hold
'Cause You made this sinner holy
And holy holy
'Cause Your glory is so beautiful
I fall onto my knees in awe
And the heartbeat of my life
Is to worship in Your light
'Cause Your glory is so beautiful
'Cause Your glory is so beautiful
Glory glory hallelujah
Jesus You are good
What can wash away my sins
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
What can make me whole again
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Oh, precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow
No other fount I know
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Doxology
Thomas Ken
Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise God, all creatures here below;
Praise God above, ye heav'nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! Lindsay welcomed us and called us into worship. Corrie and Judah invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Iris and Jason led us in communal prayer and a remembrance of the victims of the Monterey Park shooting. Bailey read scripture. John Jay provided us with a teaching and benediction. Chip invited us into a time of generosity through our offering and reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Our musicians this morning were Leslie, Paul, Halle, Rick, Scott, and the FBCP Choir. Leslie oversaw the production while Harriet worked her technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.
Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
