Liturgy for wherever you are
February 2, 2025 | Luke 3:1-17
welcome to WORSHIP
Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. Lyrics*
Oh You Bring
Matt Crocker
Oh you bring hope to the hopeless
And light to those in the darkness
And death to life now I'm alive
Oh you give peace to the restless
And joy to homes that are broken
I see you now, in you I'm found
And you opened the door for me
And you laid down
Your life to set me free
All that I am will serve you Lord
Oh you fill those who are empty
And rescue those in the valley
And through it all you calm my soul
Oh you find me in my weakness
And heal the wounds of my heartache
I worship you in spirit and truth
And you opened my eyes to see
All the wonder and awe of Christ in me
Jesus you're everything I need
All honor
All glory
All praise to you
O Come to the Altar
Chris Brown | Mack Brock | Steven Furtick | Wade Joye
Are you hurting and broken within?
Overwhelmed by the weight of your sin?
Jesus is calling
Have you come to the end of yourself?
Do you thirst for a drink from the well?
Jesus is calling
O come to the altar
The Father's arms are open wide
Forgiveness was bought with
The precious blood of Jesus Christ
Leave behind your regrets and mistakes
Come today, there's no reason to wait
Jesus is calling
Bring your sorrows and trade them for joy
From the ashes, a new life is born
Jesus is calling
Oh what a Savior
Isn't He wonderful?
Sing alleluia, Christ is risen
Bow down before Him
For He is Lord of all
Sing alleluia, Christ is risen
Bear your cross as you wait for the crown
Tell the world of the treasure you’ve found
Come Ye Sinners
Joseph Hart
Come ye sinners, poor and needy
Weak and wounded sick and sore
Jesus ready stands to save you
Full of pity love and power
Come ye thirsty come and welcome
God’s free bounty glorify
True belief and true repentance
Every grace that brings you nigh
I will arise and go to Jesus
He will embrace me in His arms
In the arms of my dear Savior
Oh there are ten thousand charms
Come ye weary heavy laden
Lost and ruined by the fall
If you tarry till you're better
You will never come at all
Let not conscience make you linger
Not of fitness fondly dream
All the fitness He requireth
Is to feel your need of Him
Doxology
Thomas Ken
Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise God, all creatures here below;
Praise God above, ye heav'nly host;

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! Chip welcomed us and he and Arielle invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Chip also called us into worship and led us in communion. Bill read scripture. John Jay provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Charles invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Paul provided our offertory. Our other musicians this morning were Leslie, John Jay, Natalee, Jonathan, Rick, Chris B and the FBCP Choir. John Jay reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Leslie oversaw the production while Steph worked their technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.
Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
