Liturgy for wherever you are
Fifth Sunday after Epiphany
February 6, 2022
welcome to WORSHIP
Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ.
Lyrics*
Holy, Holy, Holy
John Bacchus Dykes | Reginald Heber
Holy, holy, holy!
Lord God Almighty
Early in the morning
Our song shall rise to Thee
Holy, holy, holy!
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons
Blessed Trinity!
Holy, holy, holy!
Though the darkness hide thee
Though the eye of sinful ones
Thy glory may not see
Only Thou art holy
There is none beside Thee
Perfect in power, in love and purity
Holy, holy, holy!
Lord God Almighty
All thy works shall praise Thy name
In earth and sky and sea
Holy, holy, holy!
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons
Blessed Trinity!
Great are You, Lord
David Leonard | Jason Ingram | Leslie Jordan
You give life You are love
You bring light to the darkness
You give hope You restore ev'ry heart that is broken
Great are You Lord
It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise
We pour out our praise
It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to You only
And all the earth will shout Your praise
Our hearts will cry these bones will sing
Great are You Lord
Your Glory/Nothing But the Blood
Leslie Jordan / Robert Lowry
My life is Yours
And my hope is in You only
And my heart You hold
'Cause You made this sinner holy
And holy holy
'Cause Your glory is so beautiful
I fall onto my knees in awe
And the heartbeat of my life
Is to worship in Your light
'Cause Your glory is so beautiful
'Cause Your glory is so beautiful
Glory glory hallelujah
Jesus You are good
What can wash away my sins
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
What can make me whole again
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Oh, precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow
No other fount I know
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Our Father
Marcus Meier
Our Father in Heaven
Hallowed be Your name
Your Kingdom come quickly
Your will be done the same
On Earth as it is in Heaven
Let Heaven come to
Earth as it is in Heaven
Let Heaven come
Let Heaven come, let Heaven come
Yours is the Kingdom, Yours is the power
Yours is the glory forever, amen
Yours is the Kingdom, Yours is the power
Yours is the glory forever amen

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s liturgy service! John Jay invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Rebecca T. led us in our call to worship. Chip led us in a time of communion before Elizabeth led us in communal prayer. Kevin read Scripture. John Jay provided us with a teaching to feed our spirits and returned at the end to offer up the benediction. Craig C. invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Paul provided our offertory. Our other music makers this morning were Leslie, Astyn, Nat, Jason E., Dann, and the FBCP choir. Lindsay helped us express gratitude for Mary before reminding us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Leslie oversaw the production while Harriet worked her technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.
Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
