Liturgy for wherever you are

February 16, 2025 | Luke 4:31-44

welcome to WORSHIP

Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. This Little Light of Mine

Harry Dixon Loes | David Wakerley | David Ware

This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine let it shine let it shine

Ev'rywhere I go
I'm gonna let it shine
Ev'rywhere I go
I'm gonna let it shine
Ev'rywhere I go
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine let it shine let it shine

Don’t let Satan blow it out
I'm gonna let it shine
Don’t let Satan blow it out
I'm gonna let it shine
Don’t let Satan blow it out
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine let it shine let it shine

Joyful Joyful We Adore You

Edward Hodges | Henry Van Dyke | Ludwig van Beethoven

Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee
God of glory, Lord of love
Hearts unfold like flow’rs before Thee
Hail Thee as the Son above

Joy in my soul, joy in my soul
Joy in my soul, joy in my soul

Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee
God of glory, Lord of love
Hearts unfold like flow’rs before Thee
Hail Thee as the Son of love
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness
Drive the dark of doubt away
Giver of immortal gladness
Fill us with the light of day!

All Your works with joy surround Thee
Earth and heaven reflect Your rays
Stars and angels sing around Thee
Center of unbroken praise
Field and forest, vale and mountain
Flow’ry meadow, flashing sea
Chanting bird and flowing fountain
Praising You eternally!

At Your Name

Phil Wickham | Tim Hughes

At Your name
The mountains shake and crumble
At Your name
The oceans roar and tumble
At Your name angels will bow
The earth will rejoice
Your people cry out

Lord of all the earth we shout Your name
Shout Your name
Filling up the skies with endless praise
Endless praise
Yahweh Yahweh
We love to shout Your name oh Lord

At Your name
The morning breaks in glory
At Your name
Creation sings Your story
At Your name angels will bow
The earth will rejoice
Your people cry out

There is no one like our God
We will praise You praise You
There's no one like our God
We will sing, we will sing

Holy, Holy, Holy

John Bacchus Dykes | Reginald Heber

Holy, holy, holy!
Lord God Almighty
Early in the morning
Our song shall rise to Thee
Holy, holy, holy!
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons
Blessed Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy!
Though the darkness hide thee
Though the eye of sinful ones
Thy glory may not see
Only Thou art holy
There is none beside Thee
Perfect in power, in love, and purity

Holy, holy, holy!
Lord God Almighty
All thy works shall praise Thy name
In earth and sky and sea
Holy, holy, holy!
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons
Blessed Trinity!

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! Chip welcomed us. Sara and Chris J invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Greta called us into worship. Lindsay honored Mary for her time on staff. John Jay led us in a prayer of blessing for Mary. Mary G read scripture. John Jay provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Jess Cho invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Our musicians this morning were Leslie, John Jay, Chris M, Tilli, Rick and Chris T. John Jay reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Leslie oversaw the production while Steph worked their technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.

Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
