Liturgy for wherever you are
Transfiguration Sunday
February 19, 2023
welcome to WORSHIP
Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ.
Lyrics*
Come Thou Fount
John Wyeth | Robert Robinson
Come Thou Fount of ev'ry blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
Streams of mercy never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
Praise the mount I'm fixed upon it
Mount of God’s redeeming love
Here I raise mine Ebenezer
Hither by thy great help I'm come
And I hope by Thy good pleasure
Safely to arrive at home
Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wand'ring from the fold of God
He to rescue me from danger
Interposed His precious blood
O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrained to be
Let Thy goodness like a fetter
Bind my wand'ring heart to Thee
Prone to wander Lord I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart O take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above
Oh You Bring
Matt Crocker
Oh you bring hope to the hopeless
And light to those in the darkness
And death to life now I'm alive
Oh you give peace to the restless
And joy to homes that are broken
I see you now, in you I'm found
And you opened the door for me
And you laid down
Your life to set me free
All that I am will serve you Lord
Oh you fill those who are empty
And rescue those in the valley
And through it all you calm my soul
Oh you find me in my weakness
And heal the wounds of my heartache
I worship you in spirit and truth
And you opened my eyes to see
All the wonder and awe of Christ in me
Jesus you're everything I need
All honor
All glory
All praise to you
God I Look to You
Ian McIntosh | Jenn Johnson
God I look to You
I won't be overwhelmed
Give me vision to see things like You do
God I look to You
You're where my help comes from
Give me wisdom You know just what to do
I will love You Lord my strength
I will love You Lord my shield
I will love You Lord my rock
Forever all my days I will love You God
Give your peace to us
Your goodness and Your joy
You are patient, so teach us patience too
May our spirits know
Your love for everyone
May your kindness reveal itself through us
May the Spirit guide our hearts
May the Spirit guide our mouths
May the Spirit guide our lives
Forever all our days, may the Spirit guide

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! Lindsay welcomed us, and she and Corrie invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Tyler called us into worship. Chip and John Jay introduced new members to our congregation. Bill led us in communal prayer. Maggie B. read scripture. John Jay provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Christopher invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Chip reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Our musicians this morning were Katie, Rick, and Chris B. Leslie oversaw production while Harriet worked her technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.
Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
