Liturgy for wherever you are

Fifth Sunday of Lent | Luke 23:1-5

March 17, 2024

welcome to WORSHIP

Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. Friend Of God

Michael Gungor and Israel Houghton

Who am I that You are mindful of me
That You hear me
When I call
Is it true that You are thinking of me
How You love me
It's amazing

I am a friend of God
I am a friend of God
I am a friend of God
You call me friend

God Almighty
Lord of glory
You have called me friend

My Hope is Built on Nothing Less

Charlie Hall | Edward Mote | Kendall Combes | Trent Austin | William Batchelder Bradbury

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus' name

On Christ the solid Rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In ev’ry high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil

His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me in the whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way
He then is all my hope and stay

When He shall come with trumpet sound
O may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless to stand before the throne

Revelation Song

Jennie Lee Riddle

Worthy is the Lamb Who was slain
Holy holy is He
Sing a new song to Him Who sits on
Heaven's mercy seat

Holy holy holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of kings
You are my ev'rything
And I will adore You

Clothed in rainbows of living color
Flashes of lightning rolls of thunder
Blessing and honor strength and glory
And power be to You the only wise King

Filled with wonder awestruck wonder
At the mention of Your name
Jesus Your name is power breath and living water
Such a marv'lous mystery

Fontanelle

Clem Snide | Rev Kev

May the sun always shine on you
And each day feel so bright and new
And may God hold you in the palm of His hand

May the moon always light your way
And love be forever and here to stay
And may God hold you in the palm of His hand
And may God hold you in the palm of His hand

When your time, your time has reached its end
Then may paradise be just around the bend

And If the world should turn it's back to you
And it seems, seems there's nothing left to do
Then may God hold you in the palm of His hand
Then may God hold you in the palm of His hand

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! Lindsay welcomed us, and she and Mary invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Jessica C called us into worship. Bailey led us in communal prayer. Stephanie read scripture. John Jay provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Nancy S invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Chip and Adam reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Our musicians this morning were Leslie, John Jay, Nat, Tim, Chris M and Chris B. Leslie oversaw the production while Kenny worked his technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.

Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
