Liturgy for wherever you are
Palm Sunday | Luke 23:6-12
March 24, 2024
welcome to WORSHIP
Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. Lyrics*
O Worship the King
Johann Michael Haydn | Robert Grant
O worship the King all glorious above
O gratefully sing His wonderful love
Our Shield and Defender the Ancient of Days
Pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise
O tell of His might O sing of His grace
Whose robe is the light and canopy space
His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form
And dark is His path on the wings of the storm
You alone are the matchless King
To You alone be all majesty
Your glories and wonders
What tongue can recite
You breathe in the air
You shine in the light
O measureless might ineffable love
While angels delight to worship above
Thy mercies how tender how firm to the end
Our Maker Defender Redeemer and Friend
In Jesus’ Name
Darlene Zschech | Israel Houghton
God is fighting for us God is on our side
God has overcome yes
God has overcome
We will not be shaken we will not be moved
Jesus You are here
Carrying our burdens covering our shame
God has overcome yes
God has overcome
We will not be shaken we will not be moved
Jesus You are here
I will live I will not die
The resurrection pow'r of Christ
Alive in me and I am free
In Jesus' Name
I will live I will not die
I will declare and lift You high
Christ revealed and I am healed
In Jesus' Name
God is fighting for us pushing back the darkness
Lighting up the Kingdom that cannot be shaken
In the Name of Jesus enemy's defeated
And we will shout it out shout it out
All Creatures of Our God and King
Brent Milligan | David Crowder | St. Francis of Assisi | William Henry Draper
All creatures of our God and King
Lift up your voice and with us sing
O praise Him alleluia
Thou burning sun with golden beam
Thou silver moon with softer gleam
O praise Him O praise Him
Alleluia alleluia alleluia
Thou rushing wind that art so strong
Ye clouds that sail in Heav'n along
O praise Him alleluia
Thou rising moon in praise rejoice
Ye lights of evening find a voice
O praise Him O praise Him
Alleluia alleluia alleluia
Let all things their Creator bless
And worship Him in humbleness
O praise Him alleluia
Praise praise the Father praise the Son
And praise the Spirit three in One
O praise Him O praise Him
Alleluia alleluia alleluia

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! John Jay welcomed us and he and Chip invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. John Jay called us into worship. Gaby led us in communal prayer. Melanie read scripture. John Jay provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Lindsay honored our Volunteer of the Month, invited us into a time of generosity through our offering, and reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Paul provided our offertory and doxology. Our other musicians this morning were Leslie, Warren, Cindie, Dave, Rick, Scott, the FBCP Choir, Kids and Youth. Leslie oversaw the production while Kenny worked his technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.
Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
