Liturgy for wherever you are

Fifth Sunday of Lent

March 26, 2023

welcome to WORSHIP

Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ.

Lyrics*

He Is Faithful

Bryan Torwalt

I have heard a sound coming on the wind
Changing hearts and minds healing brokenness
I feel a generation breaking through despair
I hear a generation full of faith declare

And our song it will be
Out of the darkness we will rise and sing

He is faithful He is glorious
And He is Jesus and all my hope is in Him
He is freedom He is healing right now
He is hope and joy love and peace and life

I have seen a light like the break of dawn
Showing us the path, making all things new
I see a generation with resurrection life
We are a generation filled with the power of Christ

He has paid the highest price
He has proven His great love for us
We will praise Him with our lives
And proclaim our love for Him

Who You Say I Am

Ben Fielding | Reuben Morgan

Who am I that the highest King
Would welcome me
I was lost but He brought me in
Oh His love for me
Oh His love for me

Who the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
I’m a child of God
Yes I am

Free at last
He has ransomed me
His grace runs deep
While I was a slave to sin
Jesus died for me
Yes He died for me

In my Father’s house
There’s a place for me
I’m a child of God
Yes I am

I am chosen not forsaken
I am who You say I am
You are for me not against me
I am who You say I am

I Surrender All

Judson Wheeler Van DeVenter | Winfield Scott Weeden

All to Jesus I surrender
All to Him I freely give
I will ever learn to trust Him
In His presence daily live

I surrender all
I surrender all
All to Thee my blessed Savior
I surrender all

All to Jesus I surrender
Make me Savior wholly Thine
May your Holy Spirit fill me
May I know your power devine

All to Jesus I surrender
Lord I give myself to Thee
Fill me with Your love and power
Let your blessing fall on me

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! Bill welcomed us, and he and Saskia invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Brian called us into worship. Judy led us in communal prayer. Vivian read scripture. Jason E. provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Rich invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Joanna provided the offertory. Our other musicians this morning were Astyn, Dave, Cindie, Cynthia, Rick and Galvin. Bill and Judy reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Leslie oversaw the production while Harriet worked her technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.

Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
