Liturgy for wherever you are
Second Sunday of Easter | Genesis 42:1-5
April 7, 2024
welcome to WORSHIP
Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. Glorious Day
Jason Ingram | Jonathan Smith | Kristian Stanfill | Sean Curran
I was buried beneath my shame
Who could carry that kind of weight
It was my tomb 'til I met You
I was breathing but not alive
All my failures I tried to hide
It was my tomb 'til I met You
You called my name, and I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness into Your glorious day
You called my name, and I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness into Your glorious day
Now Your mercy has saved my soul
Now Your freedom is all that I know
The old made new Jesus when I met You
I needed rescue my sin was heavy
But chains break at the weight of Your glory
I needed shelter I was an orphan
Now You call me a citizen of Heaven
When I was broken You were my healing
Now Your love is the air that I'm breathing
I have a future my eyes are open
Come Thou Fount
John Wyeth | Robert Robinson
Come Thou Fount of ev'ry blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
Streams of mercy never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
Praise the mount I'm fixed upon it
Mount of God’s redeeming love
Here I raise mine Ebenezer
Here by that great help I'm come
And I hope by Thy good pleasure
Safely to arrive at home
Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wand'ring from the fold of God
He to rescue me from danger
Interposed His precious blood
O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrained to be
Let Thy goodness like a fetter
Bind my wand'ring heart to Thee
Prone to wander Lord I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart O take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above
Come to the River
David Dalton | Nate Moore | Pat Barrett | Tony Brown
Come to the water, all who are thirsty; come and drink.
Come to the table, all who are hungry; come and feast.
Those who are weary, those who are needy, come receive.
Come to the River, come to the River; taste and see.
Come to the River, come to the River; taste and see.
Oh, oh my soul thirsts for You, and You alone.
Oh, oh my soul, thirsts for You, and You alone.
I will taste and see that You are good.
I will taste and see that You are good.
I will taste and see that You are good, You're good to me.

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! Chip welcomed us, and he and Tyler invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. John Jay called us into worship. Nori led us in communal prayer. Renee read scripture. John Jay provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Chip led us in communion. Susan invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Paul provided our offertory. Our other musicians this morning were Leslie, John Jay, Judah, Rick and Chris B. Chip and Spring Sunday School teachers Rene, Charles and Dan reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Leslie oversaw the production while Kenny worked his technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.
Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
