Liturgy for wherever you are
Third Sunday of Easter
May 1, 2022
welcome to WORSHIP
Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ.
HYMN sTUDies
This Sunday we begin our new preaching series on hymns that have been a part of our faith tradition over the years and formed us theologically as we have sung them in worship. Each week you’ll find the lyrics to the hymn being highlighted here for continued reflection.
This is My Father’s World
Franklin Lawrence Sheppard | Maltbie Davenport Babcock
This is my Father's world
And to my listening ears
All nature sings, and round me rings
The music of the spheres
This is my Father's world
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas
His hand the wonders wrought
This is my Father's world
The birds their carols raise
The morning light, the lily white
Declare their Maker's praise
This is my Father's world
He shines in all that's fair
In the rustling grass, I hear him pass
He speaks to me everywhere
This is my Father's world
O let me ne'er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong
God is the ruler yet
This is my Father's world
Why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King let the heavens ring!
God reigns, let the earth be glad!

All Creatures of Our God and King
Brent Milligan | David Crowder | St. Francis of Assisi | William Henry Draper
All creatures of our God and King
Lift up your voice and with us sing
O praise Him alleluia
Thou burning sun with golden beam
Thou silver moon with softer gleam
O praise Him O praise Him
Alleluia alleluia alleluia
Thou rushing wind that art so strong
Ye clouds that sail in Heav'n along
O praise Him alleluia
Thou rising moon in praise rejoice
Ye lights of evening find a voice
O praise Him O praise Him
Alleluia alleluia alleluia
Let all things their Creator bless
And worship Him in humbleness
O praise Him alleluia
Praise praise the Father praise the Son
And praise the Spirit three in One
O praise Him O praise Him
Alleluia alleluia alleluia
At Your Name
Phil Wickham | Tim Hughes
At Your name
The mountains shake and crumble
At Your name
The oceans roar and tumble
At Your name angels will bow
The earth will rejoice
Your people cry out
Lord of all the earth we shout Your name
Shout Your name
Filling up the skies with endless praise
Endless praise
Yahweh Yahweh
We love to shout Your name oh Lord
At Your name
The morning breaks in glory
At Your name
Creation sings Your story
At Your name angels will bow
The earth will rejoice
Your people cry out
There is no one like our God
We will praise You praise You
There's no one like our God
We will sing we will sing
There is no one like our God
We will praise You praise You
There’s no one like our God
We will sing
Revelation Song
Jennie Lee Riddle
Worthy is the Lamb Who was slain
Holy holy is He
Sing a new song to Him Who sits on
Heaven's mercy seat
Holy holy holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of kings
You are my ev'rything
And I will adore You
Clothed in rainbows of living color
Flashes of lightning rolls of thunder
Blessing and honor strength and glory
And power be to You the only wise King
Filled with wonder awestruck wonder
At the mention of Your name
Jesus Your name is power breath and living water
Such a marv'lous mystery

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! John Jay welcomed and invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Grace led us in our call to worship. Jennifer W. led us in communal prayer. Joel read scripture. John Jay provided us with a teaching to feed our spirits and returned at the end to offer up the benediction. Lindsay led us in a time of communion. Jeannette invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Paul provided the offertory. Our other musicians this morning were Leslie, Astyn, Rick, Dann, and the FBCP Choir. Shawn and Chip reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Leslie oversaw the production while Harriet worked her technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.
Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
