Liturgy for wherever you are

Fifth Sunday of Easter | Romans 14

May 7th, 2023

welcome to WORSHIP

Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. The Joy of the Lord

Chris Llewellyn | Ed Cash | Gareth Gilkeson

Though the tears may fall my song will rise
My song will rise to You
Though my heart may fail my song will rise
My song will rise to You
While there’s breath in my lungs
I will praise You Lord

In the dead of night I’ll lift my eyes
I’ll lift my eyes to You
When the waters rise I’ll lift my eyes
I’ll lift my eyes to You
While there’s hope in this heart
I will praise You Lord

The joy of the Lord is my strength
The joy of the Lord is my strength
In the darkness I’ll dance
In the shadows I’ll sing
The joy of the Lord is my strength

When I cannot see You with my eyes
Let faith arise to You
When I cannot feel Your hand in mine
Let faith arise to You
God of mercy and love I will praise You Lord

Oh You shine with glory Lord of light
I feel alive with You
In Your presence now I come alive
I am alive with You
There is strength when I say
I will praise You Lord

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah
The joy of the Lord is my strength

Cornerstone

Edward Mote | Eric Liljero | Jonas Myrin | Reuben Morgan | William Batchelder Bradbury

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus' name

Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong in the Savior's love
Through the storm
He is Lord
Lord of all

When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil

When He shall come with trumpet sound
Oh may I then in him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless to stand before the throne

Your Glory+Nothing But the Blood

Leslie Jordan | Robert Lowry

My life is Yours
And my hope is in You only
And my heart You hold
'Cause You made this sinner holy
And holy holy

'Cause Your glory is so beautiful
I fall onto my knees in awe
And the heartbeat of my life
Is to worship in Your light
'Cause Your glory is so beautiful
'Cause Your glory is so beautiful

Glory glory hallelujah
Jesus You are good

What can wash away my sins
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
What can make me whole again
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

Oh, precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow
No other fount I know
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! Chip welcomed us. Chip and Tina invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Jason E led us in communal prayer. Sarah read scripture. John Jay provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Lindsay led us in a time of communion. Bailey invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Paul provided the offertory. Our other musicians this morning were Leslie, Astyn, Rick and the FBCP Choir. Chip and Shawn reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Leslie oversaw the production while Harriet worked her technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.

Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
