Liturgy for wherever you are

Pentecost Sunday | Acts 7:54-8:1a

May 19, 2024

welcome to WORSHIP

Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. Praise to the Lord the Almighty

Catherine Winkworth | Joachim Neander

Praise to the Lord
The Almighty the King of creation
O my soul praise Him
For He is thy health and salvation
All ye who hear now to His temple draw near
Join me in glad adoration

Praise to the Lord
Who o’er all things so wondrously reigneth
Shelters thee under His wings
Yea so gently sustaineth
Hast thou not seen
How thy desires e’er have been
Granted in what He ordaineth

Hallelujah hallelujah
Hallelujah hallelujah

Praise to the Lord
Who doth prosper thy work and defend thee
Surely His goodness and mercy
Here daily attend thee
Ponder anew
What the Almighty can do
If with His love He befriend thee

Praise to the Lord
O let all that is in me adore Him
All that hath life and breath
Come now with praises before Him
Let the Amen sound from His people again
Gladly forever we adore Him

Our Father

Marcus Meier

Our Father in Heaven
Hallowed be Your name
Your Kingdom come quickly
Your will be done the same

On Earth as it is in Heaven
Let Heaven come to
Earth as it is in Heaven
Let Heaven come

Let Heaven come, let Heaven come

Yours is the Kingdom, Yours is the power
Yours is the glory forever, amen
Yours is the Kingdom, Yours is the power
Yours is the glory forever amen

Holy Spirit

Bryan Torwalt | Katie Torwalt

There's nothing worth more that will ever come close
No thing can compare You're our living hope
Your Presence

I've tasted and seen of the sweetest of loves
Where my heart becomes free and my shame is undone
In Your Presence Lord

Holy Spirit You are welcome here
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere
Your glory God is what our hearts long for
To be overcome by Your Presence Lord

Let us become more aware of Your Presence
Let us experience the glory of Your goodness, Lord

Great Are You, Lord

David Leonard | Jason Ingram | Leslie Jordan

You give life You are love
You bring light to the darkness
You give hope You restore ev'ry heart that is broken
Great are You Lord

It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise
We pour out our praise
It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to You only

And all the earth will shout Your praise
Our hearts will cry these bones will sing
Great are You Lord

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! Chip welcomed us, and he and Renee invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Zach H called us into worship. Michael M and Mary W reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Kara led us in communal prayer. Bill D read scripture. Lindsay provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Ken invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Lindsay offered a special blessing for Dustin and Stormie. Our musicians this morning were Leslie, Jason C, Natalee, Jason E and Chris B. Leslie oversaw the production while Kenny worked his technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.

Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
