Liturgy for wherever you are
Sixth Sunday of Easter
May 22, 2022
welcome to WORSHIP
Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ.
HYMN sTUDies
We are in our new preaching series on hymns that have been a part of our faith tradition over the years and formed us theologically as we have sung them in worship. Each week you’ll find the lyrics to the hymn being highlighted here for continued reflection.
Take My Life and Let It Be
Frances Ridley Havergal | Henri Abraham Cesar Malan
Take my life and let it be
Consecrated Lord to Thee
Take my moments and my days
Let them flow in ceaseless praise
Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee
Take my will and make it Thine
It shall be no longer mine
Take my heart it is Thine own
It shall be Thy royal throne
Take my love my Lord I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store
Take myself and I will be
Ever only all for Thee
Lyrics*
Who You Say I Am
Ben Fielding | Reuben Morgan
Who am I that the highest King
Would welcome me
I was lost but He brought me in
Oh His love for me
Oh His love for me
Who the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
I’m a child of God
Yes I am
Free at last
He has ransomed me
His grace runs deep
While I was a slave to sin
Jesus died for me
Yes He died for me
In my Father’s house
There’s a place for me
I’m a child of God
Yes I am
I am chosen not forsaken
I am who You say I am
You are for me not against me
I am who You say I am
I Have Decided / 10,000 Reasons
Garo Christians | Sadhu Sundar Singh // Jonas Myrin | Matt Redman
I have decided to follow Jesus
I have decided to follow Jesus
I have decided to follow Jesus
No turning back, No turning back
The sun comes up it's a new day dawning
It's time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes
Bless the Lord O my soul O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name
You're rich in love and You're slow to anger
Your name is great and Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find
And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing Your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! John Jay welcomed us and Leslie led us in our call to worship. Lindsay and John Jay invited us to witness and join together with the Martinez family as they dedicated their son to God. Mady led us in communal prayer. J.T. read scripture. John Jay and Elizabeth provided us with a teaching to feed our spirits. Lindsay invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Our musicians this morning were Leslie, Astyn, Cindie, Dave, Rick, and Dann. Chip reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. John Jay offered up the benediction. Leslie oversaw the production while Harriet worked her technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.
Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
