Liturgy for wherever you are

Guiding Principals: Mission Statement | Ephesians 3:14-21

welcome to WORSHIP

Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. The Love of God

Frederick Martin Lehman

The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from their sin.

When hoary time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When those who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam’s race—
The saints’ and angels’ song.

Oh, love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure—
The saints’ and angels’ song.

Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And everyone a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.

Jesus We Love You

Hannah McClure | Kalley Heiligenthal | Paul McClure

Old things have passed away
Your love has stayed the same
Your constant grace remains the cornerstone
Things that we thought were dead
Are breathing in life again
You cause your Son to shine on darkest nights

For all that You've done we will pour out our love
This will be our anthem song

Jesus we love You
Oh how we love You
You are the one our hearts adore

The hopeless have found their hope
The orphans now have a home
All that was lost has found its place in You
You lift our weary head
You make us strong instead
You took these rags and made us beautiful

Our affection our devotion
Poured out on the feet of Jesus

Be Thou My Vision

Eleanor Henrietta Hull | Mary Elizabeth Byrne | Aaron Lee

Be Thou my vision O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me save that Thou art
Thou my best thought by day or by night
Waking or sleeping Thy presence my light

Be Thou my wisdom and Thou my true word
I ever with Thee and Thou with me Lord
Thou my great Father and I Thy true child
Thou in me dwelling and I with Thee one

Riches I heed not nor man's empty praise
Thou mine inheritance now and always
Thou and Thou only first in my heart
High King of heaven my treasure Thou art

High King of heaven my victory won
May I reach heaven’s joys O bright heaven’s Sun
Heart of my own heart whatever befall
Still be my vision O ruler of all

This Little Light of Mine

Harry Dixon Loes | David Wakerley | David Ware

This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine let it shine let it shine

Ev'rywhere I go
I'm gonna let it shine
Ev'rywhere I go
I'm gonna let it shine
Ev'rywhere I go
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine let it shine let it shine

Even when I'm afraid
I'm gonna let it shine
Even when I'm afraid
I'm gonna let it shine
Even when I'm afraid
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine let it shine let it shine

Doxology

Thomas Ken

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise God, all creatures here below;
Praise God above, ye heav'nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! Mary welcomed us and she and Lucia invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Chip called us into worship. Lindsay led us in communion. Bunny read scripture. Chip provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Jessica C invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Paul provided our offertory. Our other musicians this morning were Leslie, Natalee, Jason C, David T, Rick, Scott, Kids and the FBCP Choir. Lindsay reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together and she honored 2024 graduates. Leslie oversaw the production while Kenny worked his technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.

Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
