Liturgy for wherever you are

Guiding Principles: Worship | Matthew 22:34-40

June 16, 2024

welcome to WORSHIP

Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. You Carried Me

Will Reagan | United Pursuit

Holy, God of our faith
You are welcome in this place
You are welcome in this place

Come fill our hearts up
Come fill our hearts up
With Your presence

Sweet Lord, sustain us
You carry me
You carry me on the wings of love

How Firm a Foundation

Public Domain

How firm a foundation ye saints of the Lord
Is laid for your faith in His excellent word
What more can He say than to you He hath said
To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled

Fear not I am with thee O be not dismayed
For I am thy God I will still give thee aid
I'll strengthen thee help thee
And cause thee to stand
Upheld by My righteous omnipotent hand

When through the deep waters He calls thee to go
The rivers of grief shall not thee overflow
For He will be with thee in trouble to bless
And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress

When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie
My grace all-sufficient shall be thy supply
The flames shall not hurt thee I only design
Thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine

The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose
I will not I will not desert to its foes
That soul though all hell should endeavor to shake
I'll never no never no never forsake

The Greatest Commandment

Paul Zach

Love the Lord, your God,
With all your heart and soul and mind,
And love your neighbor as yourself.

Let us be known,
Let us be known
By the way we love.

Love, love, love, the greatest commandment is
Love, love, love, the greatest commandment is
Love, love, love, the greatest commandment is (love).

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! Chip welcomed us, invited us into a communal practice of gratitude and called us into worship. Zach H led us in communal prayer. Sally read scripture. John Jay provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Jason E invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Paul provided our offertory. Our other musicians this morning were John Jay, Judah, Chris M, Rick and Chris B. Chip and John Jay reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Leslie oversaw the production while Kenny worked his technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.

Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
