Liturgy for wherever you are
Fourth Sunday of Pentecost | Embodiment: Heart
Deuteronomy 10:12-22
June 18th, 2023
welcome to WORSHIP
Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. Leaning on the Everlasting Arms
Anthony Johnson Showalter | Elisha Albright Hoffman
What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.
Leaning, leaning,
Safe and secure from all alarms;
Leaning, leaning,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.
Oh, how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
Oh, how bright the path grows from day to day,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.
What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
Leaning on the everlasting arms?
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.
Goodness of God
Ben Fielding | Brian Johnson | Ed Cash | Jason Ingram | Jenn Johnson
I love You Lord
Oh Your mercy never fails me
All my days
I've been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up
Until I lay my head
I will sing of the goodness of God
All my life You have been faithful
All my life You have been so so good
With every breath that I am able
I will sing of the goodness of God
I love Your voice
You have led me through the fire
In darkest night
You are close like no other
I've known You as a father
I've known You as a friend
I have lived in the goodness of God
Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
With my life laid down
I’m surrendered now
I give You everything
Your goodness is running after
It's running after me
The Greatest Commandment
Paul Zach
Love the Lord, your God,
With all your heart and soul and mind,
And love your neighbor as yourself.
Let us be known,
Let us be known
By the way we love.
Love, love, love, the greatest commandment is
Love, love, love, the greatest commandment is
Love, love, love, the greatest commandment is (love).

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! Chip welcomed us. Corrie and Ruthie invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Galvin called us into worship. Jon led us in communal prayer. Kirk read scripture. Lindsay provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Cynthia invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. John Jay provided the offertory. Our other musicians this morning were Judah, Bri, Rick and Chris B. Chip reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Leslie oversaw the production while Dann worked his technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.
Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
