Liturgy for wherever you are
Sixth Sunday of Pentecost | Embodied Theology: Face
Genesis 33:1-11 | July 9th, 2023
welcome to WORSHIP
Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. Lyrics*
Who You Say I Am
Ben Fielding | Reuben Morgan
Who am I that the highest King
Would welcome me
I was lost but He brought me in
Oh His love for me
Oh His love for me
Who the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
I’m a child of God
Yes I am
Free at last
He has ransomed me
His grace runs deep
While I was a slave to sin
Jesus died for me
Yes He died for me
In my Father’s house
There’s a place for me
I’m a child of God
Yes I am
I am chosen not forsaken
I am who You say I am
You are for me not against me
I am who You say I am
Lord, I Need You
Christy Nockels | Daniel Carson | Jesse Reeves | Kristian Stanfill | Matt Maher
Lord I come, I confess
Bowing here I find my rest
And without You, I fall apart
You’re the one that guides my heart
Lord I need You, oh I need You
Ev’ry hour I need You
My one defense my righteousness
Oh God how I need You
Where sin runs deep Your grace is more
Where grace is found is where You are
And where you are Lord I am free
Holiness is Christ in me
So teach my song to rise to You
When temptation comes my way
And when I cannot stand I’ll fall on You
Jesus You’re my hope and stay
In the Garden
Charles Austin Miles
I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses
And He walks with me
And He talks with me
And He tells me I am His own
And the joy we share as we tarry there
None other has ever known
He speaks and the sound of His voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! Chip welcomed us, and he and Ruthie invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Jeannette called us into worship. Wendy led us in communal prayer. Iris read scripture. John Jay provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Brandon invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Paul provided the offertory. Our other musicians this morning were Leslie, Astyn, Cindie, Dave E, Rick and Riley. Tim reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Leslie oversaw the production while Abbey worked her technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.
Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
