Liturgy for wherever you are
Nineth Sunday of Pentecost | Embodied Theology: Mouth
Ezekiel 2:8-10, 3:1-3 | July 30th, 2023
welcome to WORSHIP
Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. Lyrics*
We Praise You
Brian Johnson | Brandon Lake | Matt Redman | Phil Wickham
Let praise be a weapon that silences the enemy
Let praise be a weapon that conquers all anxiety
Let it rise, let praise arise
We sing your name in the dark and it changes everything
We sing with all we are and we claim your victory
Let it rise, let praise arise
We’ll see You break down every wall
We’ll watch the giants fall
For fear cannot survive when we praise You
The God of breakthrough’s on our side
Forever lift Him high
With all creation cry, God we praise You
Let faith be the song that overcomes the raging sea
Let faith be the song that calms the storm inside of me
Let it rise, let faith arise
This is what living looks like
This is what freedom feels like
This is what heaven sounds like
We praise You, we praise You
O For a Thousand (Hallelujah)
Carl Gotthelf Glaser | Charles Wesley | Ralph E. Hudson | Thomas Miller
O for a thousand tongues to sing
My great Redeemer's praise
The glories of my God and King
The triumphs of His grace
If eloquence I could display
And every language speak
A thousand words could never say
The praise I have for Thee
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
All praise to our God
Before the throne we'll sing a song
With saints from every age
With thousands times ten thousand strong
We'll praise His holy name
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
All praise to our God
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
All praise to our King
A thousand years will be as one
When face to face I see
The splendid beauty of the Son
The One who died for me
Revelation Song
Jennie Lee Riddle
Worthy is the Lamb Who was slain
Holy holy is He
Sing a new song to Him Who sits on
Heaven's mercy seat
Holy holy holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of kings
You are my ev'rything
And I will adore You
Clothed in rainbows of living color
Flashes of lightning rolls of thunder
Blessing and honor strength and glory
And power be to You the only wise King
Filled with wonder awestruck wonder
At the mention of Your name
Jesus Your name is power breath and living water
Such a marv'lous mystery
Doxology
Thomas Ken
Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise God, all creatures here below;
Praise God above, ye heav'nly host;

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! Riley welcomed us, and he and Jessica H. invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Lindsay called us into worship. Nancy led us in communal prayer. Bill read scripture. Chip provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Mady invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Paul provided the offertory. Our other musicians this morning were Leslie, Tilli, Riley, Rick and Galvin. Lindsay reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Leslie oversaw the production while Abbey worked her technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.
Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
