Liturgy for wherever you are
Twelveth Sunday of Pentecost | Embodied Theology: Skin
Leviticus 13:1-8, 45-52 | August 20th, 2023
welcome to WORSHIP
Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. He Is Faithful
Bryan Torwalt
I have heard a sound coming on the wind
Changing hearts and minds healing brokenness
I feel a generation breaking through despair
I hear a generation full of faith declare
And our song it will be
Out of the darkness we will rise and sing
He is faithful He is glorious
And He is Jesus and all my hope is in Him
He is freedom He is healing right now
He is hope and joy love and peace and life
I have seen a light like the break of dawn
Showing us the path, making all things new
I see a generation with resurrection life
We are a generation filled with the power of Christ
He has paid the highest price
He has proven His great love for us
We will praise Him with our lives
And proclaim our love for Him
Oh You Bring
Matt Crocker
Oh you bring hope to the hopeless
And light to those in the darkness
And death to life now I'm alive
Oh you give peace to the restless
And joy to homes that are broken
I see you now, in you I'm found
And you opened the door for me
And you laid down
Your life to set me free
All that I am will serve you Lord
Oh you fill those who are empty
And rescue those in the valley
And through it all you calm my soul
Oh you find me in my weakness
And heal the wounds of my heartache
I worship you in spirit and truth
And you opened my eyes to see
All the wonder and awe of Christ in me
Jesus you're everything I need
All honor
All glory
All praise to you

Come to the River
David Dalton | Nate Moore | Pat Barrett | Tony Brown
Come to the water, all who are thirsty; come and drink.
Come to the table, all who are hungry; come and feast.
Those who are weary, those who are needy, come receive.
Come to the River, come to the River; taste and see.
Come to the River, come to the River; taste and see.
Oh, oh my soul thirsts for You, and You alone.
Oh, oh my soul, thirsts for You, and You alone.
I will taste and see that You are good.
I will taste and see that You are good.
I will taste and see that You are good, You're good to me.

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! John Jay welcomed us, and he and Will invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Michael H. called us into worship. Lindsay led us in communal prayer. Arielle read scripture. John Jay provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Brian and Shawn awarded the Foundation Scholarship Awards. Chip invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Our musicians this morning were Katie, Judah, Ainsley, Rick and Chris B. Tim and Sally reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Leslie oversaw the production while Abbey worked her technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.
Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
