Liturgy for wherever you are

Fourteenth Sunday of Pentecost | Prayer: The Lord’s Prayer

Matthew 6:5-15 | September 3rd, 2023

welcome to WORSHIP

Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. O For a Thousand (Hallelujah)

Carl Gotthelf Glaser | Charles Wesley | Ralph E. Hudson | Thomas Miller

O for a thousand tongues to sing
My great Redeemer's praise
The glories of my God and King
The triumphs of His grace

If eloquence I could display
And every language speak
A thousand words could never say
The praise I have for Thee

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
All praise to our God

Before the throne we'll sing a song
With saints from every age
With thousands times ten thousand strong
We'll praise His holy name

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
All praise to our God
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
All praise to our King

A thousand years will be as one
When face to face I see
The splendid beauty of the Son
The One who died for me

God With Us

Jason Ingram | Leslie Jordan

Oh You've come to bring peace to be Love
To be nearer to us
You've come to bring life to be Light
To shine brighter in us
Oh Emmanuel God with us

Our Deliverer You are Savior
In Your presence we find our strength
Over ev'rything our Redemption
God with us
You are God with us

Oh You've come to be Hope to this world
For Your honor and name
And You've come to take sin to bear shame
And to conquer the grave
Oh Emmanuel God with us

You are here
You are holy
We are standing in Your glory (Lord)

Our Father

Marcus Meier

Our Father in Heaven
Hallowed be Your name
Your Kingdom come quickly
Your will be done the same

On Earth as it is in Heaven
Let Heaven come to
Earth as it is in Heaven
Let Heaven come

Let Heaven come, let Heaven come

Yours is the Kingdom, Yours is the power
Yours is the glory forever, amen
Yours is the Kingdom, Yours is the power
Yours is the glory forever amen

Doxology

Thomas Ken

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise God, all creatures here below;
Praise God above, ye heav'nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! Hazel and Nancy welcomed us and invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Leslie called us into worship. Lindsay led us in communal prayer. Zahra read scripture. John Jay provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Chip invited us to participate in the practice of communion. Lindsay invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Paul and Nat provided the offertory. Our other musicians this morning were Leslie, Jason C, Judah, Rick, Scott and the FBCP Choir. Chip and John Jay reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Leslie oversaw the production while Michael worked his technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.

Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
