Liturgy for wherever you are

Philippians 1:7-11 | September 29, 2024

welcome to WORSHIP

Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. To listen to previous liturgies, you can visit our Soundcloud page below to browse the archives.

Listening to the Livestream

A little before 10:30 AM you should see a play button (circle with a triangle in it) appear in the box below. Press that play button when it appears, and you should be able to hear the service live! We always start the livestream a few minutes before the service begins, so you may hear some chatter or worship music playing at first. Know that you are with us in Spirit as you worship from wherever you are.

If you come to this page after Sunday worship but before the recorded sermon is posted in its entirety, please come back again! The full recording is posted by noon on Tuesday.

Lyrics*

At Your Name

Phil Wickham | Tim Hughes

At Your name
The mountains shake and crumble
At Your name
The oceans roar and tumble
At Your name angels will bow
The earth will rejoice
Your people cry out

Lord of all the earth we shout Your name
Shout Your name
Filling up the skies with endless praise
Endless praise
Yahweh Yahweh
We love to shout Your name oh Lord

At Your name
The morning breaks in glory
At Your name
Creation sings Your story
At Your name angels will bow
The earth will rejoice
Your people cry out

There is no one like our God
We will praise You praise You
There's no one like our God
We will sing, we will sing

Joy

Pat Barrett | Tony Brown

There's beauty in my brokenness
I've got true love instead of pain
There's freedom though You've captured me
I've got joy instead of mourning

You give me joy down deep in my soul
Down deep in my soul
Down deep in my soul

I've never been so free
Caught in Your love for me
Never been more secure
Knowing Your heart, Lord

Holy Spirit

Bryan Torwalt | Katie Torwalt

There's nothing worth more that will ever come close
No thing can compare You're our living hope
Your Presence

I've tasted and seen of the sweetest of loves
Where my heart becomes free and my shame is undone
In Your Presence Lord

Holy Spirit You are welcome here
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere
Your glory God is what our hearts long for
To be overcome by Your Presence Lord

Let us become more aware of Your Presence
Let us experience the glory of Your goodness, Lord

Doxology

Thomas Ken

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise God, all creatures here below;
Praise God above, ye heav'nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! John Jay welcomed us and he and Jade invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Mary G called us into worship. Jessica C led us in communal prayer. Steve C read scripture. Lindsay provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Nancy S invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Paul provided our offertory. Our other musicians this morning were Leslie, Warren, Cindie, Dave, Rick, David and Scott. Chip and Hazel reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Leslie oversaw the production while Steph worked their technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.

Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
