Liturgy for wherever you are

Eighteenth Sunday of Pentecost | Call of Abraham

Genesis 12:1-9 | October 1st, 2023

welcome to WORSHIP

Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. Lyrics*

He Is Faithful

Bryan Torwalt

I have heard a sound coming on the wind
Changing hearts and minds healing brokenness
I feel a generation breaking through despair
I hear a generation full of faith declare

And our song it will be
Out of the darkness we will rise and sing

He is faithful He is glorious
And He is Jesus and all my hope is in Him
He is freedom He is healing right now
He is hope and joy love and peace and life

I have seen a light like the break of dawn
Showing us the path, making all things new
I see a generation with resurrection life
We are a generation filled with the power of Christ

He has paid the highest price
He has proven His great love for us
We will praise Him with our lives
And proclaim our love for Him

Nothing but the Blood

Robert Lowry

What can wash away my sin
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
What can make me whole again
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

O precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow
No other fount I know
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

For my pardon this I see
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
For my cleansing this my plea
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

Nothing can for sin atone
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Naught of good that I have done
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

This is all my hope and peace
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
This is all my righteousness
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

Open Space | Bridge + Chorus

Kirby Kaple | Rob Kaple

My heart is an open space
For You to come and have Your way
I'm open I'm open

Do whatever You want to do
Say whatever You want to say
And move however You want to move
And change whatever You want to change

Take My Life and Let It Be

Frances Ridley Havergal | Henri Abraham Cesar Malan

Take my life and let it be
Consecrated Lord to Thee
Take my moments and my days
Let them flow in ceaseless praise

Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee

Take my will and make it Thine
It shall be no longer mine
Take my heart it is Thine own
It shall be Thy royal throne

Take my love my Lord I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store
Take myself and I will be
Ever only all for Thee

Doxology

Thomas Ken

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise God, all creatures here below;
Praise God above, ye heav'nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! John Jay welcomed us, and he and Jessica H. invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Tim called us into worship. Chip led us in communal prayer and invited us into communion. Bruno read scripture. John Jay provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Lindsay invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Paul provided the offertory. Our other musicians this morning were Leslie, Warren, Ainsley, Judah, Rick, Scott and the FBCP Choir. Lindsay and Bailey reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Leslie oversaw the production while Kenny worked his technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.

Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
