Liturgy for wherever you are

Christ the King Sunday | Genesis 28:10-17

November 26th, 2023

welcome to WORSHIP

Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. Lyrics*

He Is Faithful

Bryan Torwalt

I have heard a sound coming on the wind
Changing hearts and minds healing brokenness
I feel a generation breaking through despair
I hear a generation full of faith declare

And our song it will be
Out of the darkness we will rise and sing

He is faithful He is glorious
And He is Jesus and all my hope is in Him
He is freedom He is healing right now
He is hope and joy love and peace and life

I have seen a light like the break of dawn
Showing us the path, making all things new
I see a generation with resurrection life
We are a generation filled with the power of Christ

He has paid the highest price
He has proven His great love for us
We will praise Him with our lives
And proclaim our love for Him

I’ll Give Thanks

Housefires

In the morning You sing over me
And I receive Your mercy
Your faithfulness is clear to see
It’s constant every day

Every breath I breathe an invitation
To believe You are creating something good
Though this season doesn’t tell my story
I know You’ll move mountains for me
You’re just that good

So I’ll give thanks to God
When I don’t have enough
’Cause He’s more than enough
And He knows what I need

In the silence I choose to believe
You’re working in the waiting
Though the future isn’t clear to me
I trust You anyway

Why do I worry (3X)
God knows what I need

Lord, I Need You

Christy Nockels | Daniel Carson | Jesse Reeves | Kristian Stanfill | Matt Maher

Lord I come, I confess
Bowing here I find my rest
And without You, I fall apart
You’re the one that guides my heart

Lord I need You, oh I need You
Ev’ry hour I need You
My one defense my righteousness
Oh God how I need You

Where sin runs deep Your grace is more
Where grace is found is where You are
And where you are Lord I am free
Holiness is Christ in me

So teach my song to rise to You
When temptation comes my way
And when I cannot stand I’ll fall on You
Jesus You’re my hope and stay

In the River

Chris Quilala | Joshua Silverberg | Ryan Williams | Mark Allan Schoolmeesters

There is a river where goodness flows
There is a fountain that drowns sorrows
There is an ocean deeper than fear
The tide is rising, rising

There is a current stirring deep inside
It's overflowing from the heart of God
The flood of Heaven crashing over us
The tide is rising, rising

Bursting, bursting
Up from the ground
We feel it now
Bursting, bursting
Up from the ground
We feel it now

We come alive in the river
We come alive in the river
We come alive in the river
We come alive in the river

Break open prison doors
Set all the captives free
Spring up a well, spring up a well
Spring up a well in me
Nothing can stop this joy
We're dancing in the streets
Spring up a well, spring up a well
Spring up a well in me, oh

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! Lindsay welcomed us. She and Bailey invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Bailey called us into worship. Hazel led us in communal prayer. Elena read scripture. Chip provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Rene invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Our musicians this morning were Leslie, Warren, Tilli, Rick and Chris T. Chip and Dave reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Leslie oversaw the production while Kenny worked his technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.

Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
