Personality traits best suited for the role

  • Able to work in a fast paced environment: Church work happens in bursts, especially as we enter seasons of Easter and Advent. When things go fast, they go really fast!

  • Loves all kinds of people: The Office Administrator is one of the first people greeting guests in the building, from vendors to members to guests of office tenants to the occasional neighborhood friend needing help. This also means that the admin needs to be able to work with frequent pauses as face to face needs arise.

  • Adaptable: This position will work with a handful of very different personality types on the pastoral team. Sometimes people need several reminders in several forms, others will be more organized than an internal auditor.

  • Self-starter: Many projects will have repeatable processes that can be somewhat automated, but others will require makeshift solutions with a clear goal but a murky path to get there. The admin is often taking many ministerial processes from 70% to 100% completed.

  • Desire to consolidate internal processes and build efficiency: See above. We have ways we are used to doing things, but believe that a strong admin will amend those processes to suit best outcomes. We also may not see where things can be better, and are excited to see with beginner’s eyes.

  • Silly: Super serious people get annoyed with our team. Medium serious people may apply. Unserious people probably didn’t read this far. You get the picture.

  • Able to offer and receive feedback for growth: Church is a place with lots of change and lots of unknowns. We are blessed with repeated processes and endless interactive learning. All of our staff learn to thrive in a culture that values maturity and growth. In other words, church work requires tough skin. But not so tough that you get too serious. See “silly” above.
