Pastor/Director of Families and Community Partnerships
Purpose of Position
The Pastor/Director of Kids and Families is part of the Leadership Team, charged with the health and vitality of kids birth-5th grade and their families. This person will focus primarily on the spiritual and emotional lives of our younger families, as well as the intergenerational integration of families throughout the larger church community. This position will also oversee the connections of our church community to the larger work happening in our neighborhoods and city, such that our church can more fully become benedictions beyond the walls of our church. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, can lead non-anxiously, and enjoys a fast and fun work environment. This is a full-time position, benefits included, with compensation dependent on experience and education.
Kids and Families Duties and Responsibilities
Foster a safe environment for children to explore their faith and connection with God.
Manage, train, and minister to volunteers for all age-graded ministries birth-5th grade.
Communicate with families and the larger church to stay aligned to mission and vision.
Offer pastoral care to families and children as needed.
Oversee curriculum creation, choice and training in partnership with the Pastor of Formation.
Lead a summer experience for kids, typically a week-long time of learning and fun activities.
Integrate families into the larger church community.
Build upon the intergenerational values of our age-graded ministries.
Local Partnerships Duties and Responsibilities
Nurture our ongoing partnerships with The Center for Restorative Justice, Clergy Community Coalition and Friends In Deed.
Expand the inroads to on-the-ground ministry outside our church community, with an eye toward intergenerational participation that includes families with younger kids.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Participate in regular Sunday worship leadership.
Join weekly worship planning and staff meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
The Pastor/Director of Families reports to the Pastor of Formation, and is supervised by the Lead Pastor. The language of “Director/Pastor” relates the ordination status of the candidate, as well as their training. First Baptist Church of Pasadena will partner with the candidate if ordination is desired.
