This one is a few weeks away but we want to put it on your radar. The Homeless Count sets in motion a year full of education, engagement, and action for the Pasadena Partnership. Each year, volunteers help count men, women, and children living on the streets during one night in January. Last year, our Board of Deacons challenged the congregation to join them in supporting this event and we gathered the largest team from any one organization in Pasadena! Volunteers are sent in teams of 2-3 to an assigned zone on the night of Jan 21 (8-10 pm) and the morning of Jan 22 (6-8 am). The same teams go out both times. Volunteers should be 18+ and must attend an orientation on Jan 13 or 14 (6:30-8:30 pm). You can register here and when you do include that you are with First Baptist Church Pasadena and they will group us together. If you have felt overwhelmed by the homeless crisis, this is the kind of experience that can begin to humanize our neighbors on the streets. Everyone who participates in this event comes away changed!
