A scattered intergenerational choir project

We miss singing with all of our people at FBCP, especially with the adult and children’s choirs! You’re invited to come together while scattered in this singing project for adults, kids, and youth. Ms. Cynthia was inspired to do this project as an extension of Compassion Camp after she saw the video linked in the button below. Our vision is to use the final video to bless our church family as they hear all the voices of FBCP come together. Thanks for being part of what we know will be a truly special gift of song!

Lyrics

Verse 1: Children Only

The Lord bless you
And keep you
Make His face shine upon you
And be gracious to you
The Lord turn His
Face toward you
And give you peace

Verse 2: Add Adult Choir

The Lord bless you
And keep you
Make His face shine upon you
And be gracious to you
The Lord turn His
Face toward you
And give you peace

Amen, amen, amen

The Lord bless you
And keep you
Make His face shine upon you
And be gracious to you
The Lord turn His
Face toward you
And give you peace

Amen, amen, amen
Amen, amen, amen

Amen, amen, amen
Amen, amen, amen

Steps to Record

  1. Listen to the audio for your part on this page and practice.

  2. Practice again. 😉

  3. Find two audio devices to use for recording. We recommend you use your computer as a listening device, and your smartphone as a video recording device. See photos below to make sure your video recording device is set to the right frame speed (30 fps).

  4. On your computer/listening device, plug in headphones and click on the backing track on this page.

  5. Practice again. 😉😬

  6. Find a quiet indoor space to record.

  7. Open a video recording app on your phone. Then use something to position it or have someone hold the camera for you while you’re recording. Make sure you hold the phone in landscape position (that means horizontal, or hamburger 🍔 style instead of hot dog!). Check for the lighting and camera angle so that you aren’t in a shadow. Please shoot the video so that it shows you from the middle of the chest up, and leave some space above your head. Maybe do a short test record to make sure it’s positioned correctly.

  8. Remember that movement and emotion are GREAT! We want people to connect with what they’re hearing, so feel free to move, be expressive, be energetic! Prepare yourself to sing with emotion.

  9. Now you are ready to record. You should have earphones plugged into a computer with the backing track ready to start. You should have a video app open and ready to record on your phone.

  10. Start the video recording app on your phone. Then start the backing track (on your computer) to hear in your earphones.

  11. At the beginning of the recording you’ll hear a countdown to a single clap. Please clap! This is how we will line up your audio and video with the rest of the recordings, and it’s absolutely critical! Then sing when it’s your part. By now with all of the practice, you should know just where to sing with the track. Remember to look into the camera and smile! 😃

  12. When you are finished singing your video, don’t stop recording it right away. Keep recording to the end of the helper track and a few seconds after it ends before you stop recording.

  13. Listen and watch your beautiful recording, being extra kind to yourself about the quality. Almost no one likes the way their voice sounds when recorded. Trust that we will bring all of your voices together in a way that honors your singing. Once you confirm that the recording worked, move to the next and final steps…

  14. Upload the video file to us using the button below. Please note that by uploading your video, it becomes the property of FBC Pasadena.

  15. Email a photo of yourself to leslie@fbcpasadena.com for us to include in the Sunday Liturgy page. If no photo is provided, we will be forced to draw a portrait of you from memory to include. 😆

  16. Celebrate!!! 🎉
