Liturgy for wherever you are

Second Sunday of Lent

March 13, 2022

welcome to WORSHIP

Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ.

Jesus Messiah

Chris Tomlin | Daniel Carson | Ed Cash | Jesse Reeves

He became sin who knew no sin
That we might become His righteousness
He humbled Himself and carried the cross
Love so amazing, love so amazing

Jesus Messiah, Name above all names
Blessed Redeemer, Emmanuel
The rescue for sinners
The ransom from heaven
Jesus Messiah Lord of all

His body the bread, His blood the wine
Broken and poured out all for love
The whole earth trembled and the veil was torn
Love so amazing, love so amazing

All our hope is in You
All our hope is in You
All the glory to you God
The Light of the world

At Your Name

Phil Wickham | Tim Hughes

At Your name
The mountains shake and crumble
At Your name
The oceans roar and tumble
At Your name angels will bow
The earth will rejoice
Your people cry out

Lord of all the earth we shout Your name
Shout Your name
Filling up the skies with endless praise
Endless praise
Yahweh Yahweh
We love to shout Your name oh Lord

At Your name
The morning breaks in glory
At Your name
Creation sings Your story
At Your name angels will bow
The earth will rejoice
Your people cry out

There is no one like our God
We will praise You praise You
There's no one like our God
We will sing we will sing
There is no one like our God
We will praise You praise You
There is no one like our God
We will sing

Lord of all the earth we’ll shout Your name
Shout Your name
Filling up the skies with endless praise
Endless praise
Yahweh Yahweh
We love to shout Your name oh Lord

Your Glory

Leslie Jordan

My life is Yours
And my hope is in You only
And my heart You hold
'Cause You made this sinner holy
And holy holy

'Cause Your glory is so beautiful
I fall onto my knees in awe
And the heartbeat of my life
Is to worship in Your light
'Cause Your glory is so beautiful
'Cause Your glory is so beautiful

Glory glory hallelujah
Jesus You are good

God of Justice Love and Mercy

Edward M. Willmington

God of justice love and mercy
Pour Your wisdom on our souls
By Your all sustaining power
Keep our spirits strong and whole
Lift our eyes to see Your vision
Of a world in urgent need
Grant us courage then to follow
Bringing comfort with each deed

God of justice love and mercy
With compassion let us care
As we come in humble weakness
May Your strength be ours to share
Press our hearts to know the struggle
Of the ones we cannot see
Brothers sisters all who suffer
May Your kindness set them free

God of justice love and mercy
Send us out and make us bold
As we strive for Your high calling
Let our hands Your mercies hold
You have blessed us with abundance
Gifts to share with those in need
Father Son and Holy Spirit
May we follow as You lead

Doxology

Thomas Ken

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise God, all creatures here below;
Praise God above, ye heav'nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s liturgy service! John Jay welcomed and invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Leslie led us in our call to worship. Tariq read Scripture. Kris led us in communal prayer. Chip provided us with a teaching to feed our spirits and returned at the end to offer up the benediction. Lindsay invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Paul provided the offertory. Our other musicians this morning were Leslie, Warren, Rick, Dann and the FBCP Choir. John Jay and Lindsay reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Leslie oversaw the production while Harriet worked her technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.

Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
