Liturgy for wherever you are

Third Sunday of Lent

March 20, 2022

welcome to WORSHIP

Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ.

This is Amazing Grace

Jeremy Riddle | Josh Farro | Phil Wickham

Who breaks the power of sin and darkness
Whose love is mighty and so much stronger
The King of Glory, the King above all kings
Who shakes the whole earth with holy thunder
Who leaves us breathless in awe and wonder
The King of Glory, the King above all kings

This is amazing grace, This is unfailing love
That You would take my place, That You would bear my cross
You’d lay down Your life, That I would be set free
Oh, Jesus, I sing for, all that You've done for me

Who brings our chaos back into order
Who makes the orphan a son and daughter
The King of Glory, the King of Glory
Who rules the nations with truth and justice
Shines like the sun in all of its brilliance
The King of Glory, the King above all kings

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave

Build My Life

Brett Younker | Karl Martin | Kirby Kaple | Matt Redman | Pat Barrett

Worthy of ev'ry song we could ever sing
Worthy of all the praise we could ever bring
Worthy of ev'ry breath we could ever breathe
We live for You

Jesus the name above ev'ry other name
Jesus the only one who could ever save
Worthy of ev'ry breath we could ever breathe
We live for You
We live for You

Holy there is no one like You
There is none beside You
Open up my eyes in wonder and show me who You are
And fill me with Your heart
And lead me in Your love to those around me

I will build my life upon Your love
It is a firm foundation
I will put my trust in You alone
And I will not be shaken

Great Is Thy Faithfulness

Public Domain

Great is Thy faithfulness
O God my Father
There is no shadow
Of turning with Thee
Thou changest not
Thy compassions they fail not
As Thou hast been
Thou forever will be

Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning
New mercies I see
All I have needed
Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness
Lord unto me

Summer and winter
And springtime and harvest
Sun, moon and stars
In their courses above
Join with all nature
In manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness
Mercy and love

Pardon for sin
And a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence
To cheer and to guide
Strength for today
And bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine
With ten thousand beside

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s liturgy service! Bill welcomed us before he and Judy invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Vivian led us in our call to worship. Saskia led us in communal prayer. Jose read Scripture. Ken provided us with a teaching to feed our spirits and returned at the end to offer up the benediction. Brian invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Astyn provided the offertory. Our other musicians this morning were Natalee, Jason C., Jason E., and Chris. Rich reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Astyn oversaw the production while Harriet worked her technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.

Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
