Liturgy for wherever you are

Fifth Sunday of Easter | Genesis 45:16-24

April 28, 2024

welcome to WORSHIP

Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. Lyrics*

You Carried Me

Will Reagan | United Pursuit

Holy, God of our faith
You are welcome in this place
You are welcome in this place

Come fill our hearts up
Come fill our hearts up
With Your presence

Sweet Lord, sustain us
You carry me
You carry me on the wings of love

Come Thou Fount

John Wyeth | Robert Robinson

Come Thou Fount of ev'ry blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
Streams of mercy never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
Praise the mount I'm fixed upon it
Mount of God’s redeeming love

Here I raise mine Ebenezer
Hither by thy great help I'm come
And I hope by Thy good pleasure
Safely to arrive at home
Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wand'ring from the fold of God
He to rescue me from danger
Interposed His precious blood

O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrained to be
Let Thy goodness like a fetter
Bind my wand'ring heart to Thee
Prone to wander Lord I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart O take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above

Above all else, I adore Your name
Above all else, tune my heart to sing
Your praise

Prone to wander, Lord I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here’s my heart, oh take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above

Nothing But the Blood

Robert Lowry

What can wash away my sins
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
What can make me whole again
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

Oh, precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow
No other fount I know
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

This is all my hope and peace
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
This is all my righteousness
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

Glory! Glory! This I sing
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
All my praise for this I bring
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

Doxology

Thomas Ken

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise God, all creatures here below;
Praise God above, ye heav'nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Praise God for all that He has done
Praise Him for He has overcome
The grave is beaten love has won
Praise God our savior Christ the son

A - men
A - men
A - men
God we praise You
God we praise You

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! Nicole and Jensen welcomed us and invited us into a communal practice of gratitude. Christopher (John Jay’s brother!) called us into worship. Lindsay, John Jay, Mary and the Turner Family led us through the dedication of Baby Rae Marie. Lindsay called us to service and Jessica and Ruthie reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Chip led us in communal prayer. Esther read scripture. John Jay provided us with a teaching and offered up the benediction. Stephen L invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. Our musicians this morning were Christopher, Halle, Judah, Rick and Scott. Leslie oversaw the production while Kenny worked his technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.

Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
