Sunday
Fall Sunday School has begun. “History in the Gospel” with Jennifer Wolfe runs on Sunday mornings thru October 27th at 9am in the Parlor. “Spiritual Values in Literature” with Rene Scheys will begin on October 6th. Text “school” to 626.727.9498 or click here for more information.
Join us at 10:30am for worship in the sanctuary as we partake in communion together (note: crackers are gluten free) and a special Listening Sunday service. The nursery will be open as usual for our toddlers and babies. Our kids five years old and up can join us for the first part of worship and then will be dismissed to their classrooms with their leaders for a special gymnastics experience. Our youth are invited to join us after worship for our all-church taco lunch in the Park provided by the church (all the joy of a potluck with no casserole dishes to wash).
The Friends In Deed food pantry item this week is cereal.
Coming Up
Our next (and last, for now) monthly Grief Group meets on Sunday, September 22nd, at 9am in Room 214. It is a space for anyone experiencing grief or loss to be with others in a similar season. Reach out to Jon Rinkus if it’s your first time. Jon is a trained Hospital Chaplain through Fuller and provides a rich space for folks to process grief.
Thanks to folks who purchased a yummy baked treat last week and helped us raise over $600 for the Oaxaca Missions team to take their trip to Mexico next month. Look out for yummy treats again on Sunday, September 22nd in the Lobby. This time, we’ll add whole items made by Kevin (banana trifle), Saskia (key lime pie) and Tina (peanut butter cake). You may fill out a silent auction form at the Hospitality Desk for these items and see if you win! Smaller baked items will be about $5 each and you may use this link to purchase (choose Oaxaca Mission Trip from the drop-down menu).
Our FBCPride Group potluck lunch is set for Sunday, September 22nd, after worship in Room 214. The LGBTQ+ community, parents and allies 16+ are welcome, and you can read more about the group here. Text “pride” to 626.727.9498 to RSVP. Feel free to bring a friend.
Our Passive-Aggressive Pickleball group meets next on Sunday, September 22nd, at 7pm in the Gym off Union St. Text “pickle” to 626.727.9498 to join the text updates for this group. Email Tim with questions. We have paddles and balls available; bring your parking ticket for validation and a bottle of water.
Our Yarn Craft Group welcomes any crafty knitters or crocheters to join in crafting fun after worship on Sunday, September 29th, in the Southside Room. Bring snacks to share (optional) and a water bottle. Email Whitney or Justine if you have any questions.
Folks ages 55+ are invited to join us on Wednesday, October 2nd, at 12:30pm for a potluck lunch in Room 214. Come prepared to share what’s been happening in your life and warm up your vocal cords for some Community singing following lunch. It’s going to be a lively time. Email Pastor Chip with any questions.
We invite everyone to celebrate the official ordination of Pastor Lindsay Dorman at a special service on Sunday, October 6th, at 3pm in the Sanctuary. This extra step of ministerial accomplishment is indeed an event to be celebrated and acknowledged together as a community. We hope you all can join us.
