Weekly Updates 11.07.2025

TONIGHT

If you signed up for a Community Dinner, enjoy your fellowship and meal together tonight in homes across the city! A big thank you to our hosts—Bunny, Chris B, Dave, Jason E, Kara, Kathy, Mady, Maggie, Marcie, Mary, Natalee, and Zach!

Sunday

  • A reminder to our De-Escalation Team, join Pastor Chip and Gaby in the Parlor for a meeting at 9am. Thank you!

  • Join us at 10:30am for worship in the Sanctuary! Our scripture this week is 1 Corinthians 2:10-16, and our theme from Breathing Under Water is Step 10: Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it. The nursery will be open as usual for our toddlers and babies. Our kids five years old and up can join us for the first part of worship, and then will be dismissed to their classrooms with their leaders. Our youth are invited to join us for our regular lunch and fellowship after service. The Prayer team will be available at the front of the Sanctuary toward the end of the service to pray with those who would like to receive prayer.

  • Immediately after Sunday service this Sunday, November 9th, there will be a Town Hall meeting in the Sanctuary to present the 2026 budget proposal for consideration as we prepare to vote at our Gratitude Night potluck on Sunday, November 23rd. This is a time that we give thanks and remember God’s faithfulness this past year while also looking toward what God has for us in the months ahead. Email Marcie with questions.

  • The Friends In Deed food pantry item this week is soup/chili/stew.

Next Sunday

  • The Grief Group meets on Sunday, November 16th, at 9am in the Parlor. This is a space for anyone experiencing grief or loss to be with others in a similar season.  Reach out to Jon Rinkus if you are interested in joining this group. He is a trained Hospital Chaplain through Fuller and has provided a rich space for our folks to process grief.

  • Our Yarn Crafts Group invites all folks ages 7 & up (all skill levels) to continue learning and working on crafting projects after service next Sunday, November 16th, in the Parlor. BYO snacks or lunch and be ready to have fun!

  • We invite everyone to celebrate the official ordination of Pastor Leslie at a special service on Sunday, November 16th, at 2pm in the Chapel. This step of ministerial accomplishment is so exciting to celebrate and acknowledge together as a community. Grab lunch after worship and come back to join us! Cookies and iced tea will be served in the courtyard after the service.

Friends In Deed Gift Drive

We are excited to partner once again with Friends In Deed for their annual Christmas for the Kids gift drive. Every year we get the honor of helping to provide gifts for Friends In Deed’s families with kids as we are reminded of God’s generous gift of Jesus to our world, and this year we are planning to once again provide 80 gifts thanks to your generosity. At service next Sunday, November 16th, you can pick up a child's name and gift information. Unwrapped gifts should be dropped off at the church no later than Sunday, December 14th, and they should include the child's name and family number. Email the office to arrange a time to stop by, or bring the gifts to worship and drop off at the Connections Desk. Email Shawn with any questions.

Gratitude Night

You’re invited to Gratitude Night on Sunday, November 23rd, at 6pm in the Gym. This is a special time for potluck and fellowship, where we reflect on God’s goodness throughout the year. Based on your last name, as you’re able, please bring a side or salad (A-H), a dessert (I-M), or main dish (N-Z) of about 10 servings to share with your FBCP friends and family. We hope you join us for a pre-Thanksgiving feast!

Hanging of the Greens

Join us for our annual Hanging of the Greens on Sunday, November 30th, after worship! We would love your help to decorate the Sanctuary for Christmas—everything from unwrapping candles to setting up trees in our baptismal. We’ll have lunch first before turning up the Christmas music and getting to work.

Monday Study

Join Pastors John Jay and Riley for a discussion on the upcoming sermon text and theme. We gather in the Parlor from 12pm-1pm each Monday for a wild time of interpretation, imagination, theological training, storytelling, and general merriment. No prep is required, and you are welcome to bring your lunch and munch during this hour. Bring a printed Bible if you have one (we have extras), a pen and notebook, and all the curiosity you can muster. Can't wait to study together! Email Pastor John Jay with questions.
