This Sunday
Join us at 10:30 a.m. for worship in the sanctuary! The nursery will be open as usual for our toddlers and babies. Our kids five years old and up can join us for the first part of worship and then will be dismissed to their classrooms with their leaders. They can sit with their parents or join us in the front rows at the start of service. Our youth are invited to join us for our regular youth gathering after worship. The Prayer team will be available at the front of the sanctuary toward the end of the service to pray with those who would like to receive prayer.
We will have our Basics Class after worship service on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. in the Southside room for those who are interested in baptism, learning more about our church, and/or becoming a member. Pastors John Jay and Chip will go over our history as an American Baptist church and what it means to be part of the FBCP community. Lunch will be provided. Email Pastor Chip for more details and/or if you are attending and will need childcare.
The Friends In Deed Food Pantry item for this Sunday is pasta and/or pasta sauce.
Future Happenings & Other News
Starting this week, you’ll find a list of our regular weekly happenings and the upcoming events for the next six weeks at the very bottom of this page. Event details will be provided as its date nears.
Last week John Jay and Lindsay wrote a congregational letter on public theology, which you can read here. In light of recent local news, we encourage you to read this letter if you have not already done so for opportunities to engage in public theology in meaningful ways.
Some of the folks in our FBCPride group will be representing our church in a booth at the San Gabriel Valley Pride event this Sunday. Please pray for them as they bring a presence of love and generosity to our local community. May all who encounter them experience the kindness of this congregation as an extension of the love of Christ.
John Jay and Lindsay will each be facilitating separate Q&A times for the next couples class on Sunday, October 23rd, at 5 pm in the parlor. Text “couples” to 626.727.9498 to sign up. If you plan to attend and need childcare, please email Pastor Lindsay.
The FBCP Foundation invites you to a free estate planning seminar led by attorney David Russell after service on Sunday, October 30th, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. in the Southside Room. Lunch and childcare are provided. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about creating a will/trust as a means of taking care of your loved ones. Email Mary Winchell to RSVP or if you have any questions.
Our new LGBTQ pride group, FBCPride, has its next monthly meeting on Sunday, October 30th, from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Southside Room. The group is open for ages 18+, and all allies, parents, and the queer Christian community are welcome. A light dinner will be provided. Email pride@fbcpasadena.com for more information or visit the group’s website here.
On All Saints Sunday, October 30th, we will pause to remember those who have died in the past year by saying their names out loud. It is our tradition to hold our loss and grief together as the body of Christ in this sacred practice. Please use the form link below to share their names with us.
Grace and peace to you as we head into the weekend. We can’t wait to worship with you in our sanctuary on Sunday!
Less without you,
The FBCP Community
