DON’T FORGET TO TURN YOUR CLOCKS BACK!

This Sunday

  • Join us for worship in the sanctuary at 10:30 am as we partake in communion together! The nursery will be open as usual for our toddlers and babies. Please note that because this will be the first Sunday of the month, our kids five years old and up will join us in the sanctuary for service. Our youth are invited to join us for worship and for our regular youth gathering and lunch afterward. The Prayer team will be available at the front of the sanctuary toward the end of the service to pray with those who would like to receive prayer.

  • Immediately after Sunday service there will be a Town Hall meeting in the sanctuary to present the 2023 budget proposal and board nominees to the congregation for consideration as we prepare to vote on them at our Gratitude Night potluck on Sunday, November 20th. Click here for more information.

  • As an American Baptist Church, we share in the long history of global servants who have been called to work cross-culturally to show people the love of Christ and proclaim God’s reign of justice, peace and abundant life for all creation. This month you can give to the World Mission Offering (WMO) in support of International Ministries (IM), the organization that sends and supports the American Baptist global servants. We hope you will step into the flow of generosity as you consider how you might give above and beyond your regular offering to support God’s work around the world through the WMO. Click here to give online (select WMO from the drop down menu), or make your offering during Sunday worship.

  • The Friends In Deed Food Pantry item for this Sunday is non-perishable Thanksgiving foods.

If you are interested in joining with this group, please email Jeannette (jscholer@fuller.edu) or Judy (jsutterlin@hotmail.com) if you have not already done so. This will enable us to send you an email next week about the specific matters about which we will be praying on the 13th.

  • Parents, mark your calendars for Parent Night Out on November 18th from 5:30-8:30 p.m.! Pastors Lindsay and Mary are planning a night of fun for all kids so that parents can have an evening to themselves. We will provide programming, food, and fun for kids so that you can have a few hours to use as you wish (dinner out? a nap? a movie? Christmas shopping?). Kids can come for the full time or any fraction of it. Click here to RSVP so we can plan for food and care accordingly.

  • Join us after worship on Sunday, November 20th, for the Oaxaca Missions Information Lunch. Our own Nori Ochi has a longstanding relationship with the director of Adventures in Life Mission, and you can join us if you would like to hear information about ministry opportunities to Oaxaca, Mexico, or if you have any questions about Adventures In Life in general. Based on your last name, as you’re able, please bring a side or salad (A-G), dessert (H-O), or main dish (P-Z) of about 10 servings to share with your FBCP friends and family. We hope you join us for a wonderful time of fellowship, food, and friendship!

  • Join us here at FBCP for an art therapy workshop led by Kit Ripley on Saturday, December 3rd, from 10:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Kit is one of the global servants we support who works with women and girls in Thailand. She’ll share how she uses art therapy to help people heal from trauma before we eat lunch and Kit leads us in a hands-on art therapy workshop. She'll take you through a creative and contemplative exercise designed to help you take stock of where God has you in your current season of life and process what God might be inviting you to next. No artistic abilities required—this workshop is not about creating a polished product! We value the way that creative practices can connect us to God, and this will be a really rich time of listening and creating together. Text "art" to 626.727.9498 to sign up. Email Pastor Lindsay if you have any questions.

  • This Sunday we are taking up a special offering called the Retired Ministers and Missionaries Offering (RMMO). The RMMO acknowledges and shares our collective appreciation for the extraordinary commitment of those who serve God’s people. By participating in the RMMO, all congregants can celebrate the strength and perseverance of ministers, missionaries, and their widowed spouses by contributing to provide emergency assistance and “Thank You” checks. We are blessed to have many retired ministers and missionaries in our congregation, and their faithful service is a reminder of all those who have served in American Baptist churches. Through RMMO, we hope you are inspired to give to those who continue to transform and embody the spirit of Christ—and may we each be transformed by the opportunity to be generous in giving. To give, go here (select “RMMO” from the drop down menu).

    • Please avoid all red and all blue backpacks. This is very important to Friends In Deed.

    • Backpacks should be sturdy enough to handle the rigors of a student's day and the crazy amount of books they heft around, especially for our high school students.

    • The supplies needed are recommended by the Pasadena/Altadena area schools and the list can be found here.

    • They need more supplies for upper grades (6th-12th) than for lower grades.

Weekly Updates 07.08.2022

This Sunday

  • Our current teaching focus is called HYMN STUDIES. As we are able, we will be making listening tracks to go along with each week. Listen to the tracks we have so far by clicking the button above (these hymn tracks will also be our homepage for a while)!

  • Join us for worship in the sanctuary at 10:30 am as Pastor Lindsay shares a teaching with us! The nursery will be open as usual for our toddlers and babies. Our kids five years old and up can join us for the first part of worship and then will be dismissed to their classrooms with their leaders. They can sit with their parents or join us in the front rows at the start of service. Our youth are invited to join us for worship and for our regular youth gathering and lunch afterward. Prayer team will be available at the front of the sanctuary toward the end of the service to pray with those who would like to receive prayer.

  • We are collecting donations for Friends In Deed’s School Supply Drive! You can bring supplies for the next two weeks until July 17th or you can donate money until this Sunday, July 10th, so Shawn Mann can purchase supplies. If you would like to help out, here are some things to consider:

    • Please avoid all red and all blue backpacks. This is very important to Friends In Deed.

    • Backpacks should be sturdy enough to handle the rigors of a student's day and the crazy amount of books they heft around, especially for our high school students.

    • The supplies needed are recommended by the Pasadena/Altadena area schools and the list can be found here.

    • They need more supplies for upper grades (6th-12th) than for lower grades.

    • If you want to donate money, you can do so here (select “Friends In Deed”).

  • The Friends In Deed Food Pantry item for this Sunday is baking supplies (flour, sugar, oil).

Future Happenings & Other News

  • John Jay and Corrie are leading the next couples class on Sunday, July 24th, at 5 pm in the chapel. To sign up, you can text “couples” to (626) 727-9498. Please email Pastor Lindsay if you plan to attend and need childcare.

  • Kids Camp is July 25th-29th from 9 am - 12 pm each day. This year we will explore what it means to cultivate a sense of awe and wonder as we reflect on how we are wonderfully made! We are so excited to hang out, learn, and create as we deepen our relationships with one another. All kids five years old and up are invited to attend. If your kids have other friends who want to get to know our church community, you are welcome to invite them, too. We hope that through all of our activities during the week, our kids will tap into their sense of wonder and curiosity at all of God's creation. You can register your camper here.

  • We need your help to make Kids Camp a special time for our kids! Email Pastors Lindsay and Mary if you’re interested in volunteering for this year’s camp.

Grace and peace to you as we head into the weekend. We can’t wait to worship with you in our sanctuary on Sunday!

Less without you,

We take up this offering each year to support urgent needs around the world in partnership with our American Baptist global servants. When you give to OGHS, your funds support disaster relief, development projects, and refugee ministries of the American Baptist Churches and its partners. Thank you for considering how you might partner with this important work.
