FBCP Families | 10.22.2022

Hi Friends,

I pray that you are able to find rest and moments of joy this weekend as a family. Now that we are halfway through October, the calendar is getting filled with all kinds of fun events for our church family. Read on for the dates so you can mark your calendars and join in the action!

All-Church Sunday October 30th

Next Sunday, October 30th, is an all-church Sunday, so kids above nursery age can join us in service. This is a fifth Sunday, which is unusual, and our kids will get to experience our choir singing, our All Saints remembrance, and a teaching on the golden calf to complement their own exploration of the tabernacle this month. We will have snacks and an activity sheet available, and for this service, kids can sit with their families or with Pastor Mary and me in the front pews.

Estate Seminar (and Kid Halloween Fun!)

The Foundation is hosting a free estate planning seminar after worship on Sunday, October 30th, and we will be providing a fun Halloween hangout for kids as our childcare offering during that time. This seminar, led by an attorney, is an excellent opportunity to learn about creating a will or trust as a means of taking care of your loved ones. We hope that many of our parents can come and that their kids can join us for some Halloween fun! You can RSVP here to save your spot and sign up for childcare.

Church Movie Day

Join us after church on Sunday, November 13th, for an afternoon at the movies! We've reserved an entire theater to watch Black Panther, Wakanda Forever. Meet us at the AMC Theaters at the Americana at Brand in Glendale at 1:30 PM to catch all the action! We only have a limited number of spaces, and sign ups will begin this Sunday. Email Pastor Chip if you have any questions.

Parent Night Out

Mark your calendars for November 18th from 5:30-8:30 PM! Pastor Mary and I are planning a night of fun for all kids so that parents can have an evening to themselves. We will provide programming, food, and fun for kids so that you can have a few hours to use as you wish (dinner out? a nap? a movie? Christmas shopping?). Kids can come for the full time or any fraction of it. It's a win-win for kids and adults. Yay!

Carol Service

I know it's hard to believe that advent is approaching, but we are excited to prepare for the season and our special Candlelight Carol Service. Please mark your calendars for these dates. Our kids will be singing two songs at this special program, and we will begin rehearsing this week during our kids Sunday school hour. I will be sending out information next week so they can also practice at home.

  • December 10 — 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Carol Service Rehearsal for kids

  • December 11 — 6:00 PM Carol Service

SUNDAY

KIDS

Our nursery room is open this Sunday for babies and toddlers four years old and under. Childcare will be open starting at 8:55 AM for those whose parents are attending a Sunday School class.

Our kids five to ten years old will join us in the sanctuary for the start of worship, and then they will be dismissed with their leaders to their classrooms. They are welcome to start service with their parents or to join Pastor Mary and me in the front pews. If they join us for childcare during the 9:00 AM Sunday School hour, we will bring them down to the sanctuary before service starts. This week we will continue to explore the tabernacle, and we are excited to help our kids learn about God's instructions for drawing near. Here are some questions to ponder together as a family.

Discussion Questions for the Table at Home:

  • What are your favorite parts about our church building?

  • Why do you think God's instructions for the tabernacle were so specific?

YOUTH

We are on for our regular youth programming after worship this Sunday! They can gather in the front pews and then head up to the youth room together for lunch and small group time. We’ll wrap up at 1:30 PM, and parents can pick up their youth at the park entrance off Union Street.

Have a wonderful weekend!

With love and gratitude for you,

Pastor Lindsay
