Friends at FBCP,
Here are the updates and announcements you need for the week.
Tomorrow
Women’s Brunch is tomorrow, June 25th, at 10 am in the Southside room! It will be a time to share a delicious meal, get to know some awesome ladies, and hear Vivian Silla share her story of faith with us. All women and girls are welcome. Enter through the glass doors on Union Street. Text “brunch” to 626.727.9498 to register. Email Pastor Lindsay if you have any questions.
This Sunday
Our current teaching focus is called HYMN STUDIES. As we are able, we will be making listening tracks to go along with each week. Listen to the tracks we have so far by clicking the button above (these hymn tracks will also be our homepage for a while)!
Join us for worship in the sanctuary at 10:30 am! The nursery will be open as usual for our toddlers and babies. Our kids five years old and up can join us for the first part of worship and then will be dismissed to their classrooms with their leaders. They can sit with their parents or join us in the front rows at the start of service. Our youth are invited to join us for worship and for our regular youth gathering and lunch afterward. Prayer team will be available at the front of the sanctuary toward the end of the service to pray with those who would like to receive prayer.
This week we invite you to consider giving beyond your contributions to FBCP by supporting a special offering called One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS). We take up this offering each year to support urgent needs around the world in partnership with our American Baptist global servants. When you give to OGHS, your funds support disaster relief, development projects, and refugee ministries of the American Baptist Churches and its partners. Thank you for considering how you might partner with this important work.
The Friends In Deed Food Pantry item for this Sunday is fruit juice or vegetable juice (V8).
John Jay and Corrie will be leading the next couples class (potluck) on Sunday, June 26th, at 5 pm in the Southside room. To sign up, you can text “couples” to (626) 727-9498. Please email Pastor Lindsay if you plan to attend and need childcare.
Future Happenings & Other News
The FBCP Foundation is a separate entity established in 1958 by members committed to contributing financially to the church in the present and future years. Each year the Foundation has some funds set aside to disburse to FBCP members for post-secondary educational scholarships. Members interested in applying for 2022-2023 academic year can apply here. Applications are due Monday, June 27, 2022.
We will be collecting donations for Friends In Deed’s School Supply Drive starting Sunday, July 3rd. You can bring supplies from July 3rd-17th or donate money by July 10th for Shawn Mann to purchase supplies. If you would like to help out, here are some things to consider:
Please avoid all red and all blue backpacks. This is very important to Friends In Deed.
Backpacks should be sturdy enough to handle the rigors of a student's day and the crazy amount of books they heft around, especially for our high school students.
The supplies needed are recommended by the Pasadena/Altadena area schools and the list can be found here.
They need more supplies for upper grades (6th-12th) than for lower grades.
If you want to donate money, you can do so here (select “Friends In Deed”).
Join us for fun and fellowship at the Dodgers game against the Cubs on Friday, July 8th, at 7 pm. Tickets are $20 each. You can drive and meet us at the game or join a group of us gathering at the church at 5:30 pm to ride the metro train in together. Sign up for the game here. Email Pastor Chip if cost is a concern or if you have any questions.
Kids Camp will take place July 25th-29th from 9 am - 12 pm each day. This year we will explore what it means to cultivate a sense of awe and wonder as we reflect on how we are wonderfully made! We are so excited to hang out, learn, and create as we deepen our relationships with one another. All kids five years old and up are invited to attend. If your kids have other friends who want to get to know our church community, you are welcome to invite them, too. We hope that through all of our activities during the week, our kids will tap into their sense of wonder and curiosity at all of God's creation. You can register your camper here.
We need your help to make Kids Camp a special time for our kids! Email Pastor Lindsay if you’re interested in volunteering for this year’s camp.
Grace and peace to you as we head into the weekend. We can’t wait to worship with you in our sanctuary on Sunday!
Less without you,
The FBCP Community
