Sunday
The Friends In Deed food pantry item for this week is baking supplies. Someone out there bring some gluten-free flour for the allergic friends in our community!
The Deacon Board continue with their work behind the scenes. The Board met for their regular December meeting on December 11th. It was a productive and encouraging time together. The Board has some meaningful plans to help support the staff team through the end of the year. More communications soon!
For the final Sunday of Advent, the Chapel will again be open from 9am to 10am for quiet prayer. You are invited to spend time reflecting and praying, on your own or with one of our prayer team members.
If you have chosen to participate in the Friends In Deed Christmas for the Kids gift drive, remember that unwrapped gifts should be dropped off at the church no later than December 14th, and they should include the child's name and family number. Talk to Shawn with any questions.
Monday noon Bible Study in the Parlor is rolling along, and all are invited. We’ll dive into our advent study through Isaiah 40 across December. Bring your lunch, a paper bible, and your questions for Pastors John Jay and Riley.
We look forward to gathering together on Sunday, December 14th at 6pm, for our 82nd Annual Candlelight Carol Service. This moving celebration of the Advent season is a favorite event here at First Baptist. If you’re able, please plan to bring your favorite cookies to share at our cookie and hot cider reception after the service. And invite a friend or two. We made some pivots and new additions this year, and are excited to share it all with you.
Speaking of the Carol Service, we always have a Cookie Party after the Carol service, and need you all to bring some fresh baked goodies to share. Please bring those on Sunday morning and drop them at the Welcome Desk when you come for worship. Also, if someone brings a savory cookie they get an extra dispensation of grace! If you bring them in the evening, please arrive a few minutes early to hand the treats off. And thank you.
Please also plan to join us for our Christmas Eve Service, at 6p.m. on the 24th. This is an intimate service in the Chapel. We end with singing Silent Night as we gather together on Marengo Ave. Childcare will be provided for nursery-aged children. Please let Andrew know if you will need childcare for this service.
