Saturday
The Pasadena Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department presents its 4th annual Love, Loud & Proud Pride Month celebration tomorrow, June 21st, from 6-9pm at Pasadena City Hall. This is a free, family-friendly event with food available for purchase. Stop by and visit the FBCP booth for a cookie and blessing!
Sunday
The past few weeks have been cause for deep lament as we continued to witness suffering in our city. We hope you had a chance to hear Pastor John Jay’s audio update on this week’s immigration happenings and how we are feeling called to respond. Our spiritual practices will remain critical as we engage with this work, and we know many of you could use a contemplative space to pray and process. The Chapel will continue to be open from 9-10am before worship for the next couple of Sundays. Come to light a candle, sit and pray, or ask a prayer team member to pray with you in this space.
Join us at 10:30am for worship in the Sanctuary! Our scripture this week is 1 Kings 2:1-12 (13-46). The nursery will be open as usual for our toddlers and babies. Our kids five years old and up can join us for the first part of worship (and help us sing a song from Kids Camp!), and then will be dismissed to their classrooms with their leaders. Our youth are invited to join us for our regular lunch and fellowship after service. The Prayer team will be available at the front of the Sanctuary toward the end of the service to pray with those who would like to receive prayer.
Keep an eye on our Community Engagement page for the latest ways to stay involved in supporting our neighbors.
The Friends In Deed food pantry item this week is cereal.
Thank you Volunteers
Pastor Andrew would like to thank all the Kids Camp volunteers who brought the week to life! Thank you to Asher, Caleb, Chip, Cindie, Esther, Gus, Jean, Jessica, John Jay, Judah, Kathy, Kimi, Leslie, Lindsay, Lulu, Michael M, Moop, Noah, Nolan, Rebekah, Roman, Riley, Ruthie, Sally, Sebastian, Shawn, Sopfia, Warren, and Will! Together they helped the kids learn about locking in with God, others, creation and themselves by exploring how to attune, abide, be grounded and focused—via lots of fun activities. Thank you and thank you!!
Coming Up
55+ Crowd, join us for a lunch gathering this coming Wednesday, June 25th, at 12:30pm in the Southside Room. It’s always a fun time together, and we look forward to the fellowship. If you are able, you are invited to bring a potluck item to share (apologies about the misinformation last week). Email Pastor Chip with any questions.
Our next SPARKY! (Support Pasadena and Altadena Restaurants with Kevin, Y’all!) event is happening at Miya in Altadena, June 28th, at 12pm. Let Kevin know you’ll be there (and let him know if a business you love was affected by the fires and needs support)! No need for a flyer or code. Just show up, order, and eat!
Our next All-Church potluck is coming up on Sunday, June 29th, after worship in the gym. Based on your last name, if you’re able, please bring a main dish (A-J), a side or salad (K-R), or dessert (S-Z) of about 8-10 servings to share with your friends here at FBCP. Sign up in the lobby to join our amazing Volunteer Squad and help with set up or clean up.
Join us on Saturday, July 19th, at 9am for our quarterly Men’s Breakfast in the Park off Union St. You won’t want to miss the meal or the time of fellowship together. Text “bacon” to 626.727.9498 to RSVP.
