Medical Expertise
We are looking to identify people in our congregation that have professional medical training and are willing to assist should a medical need arise on a Sunday. If you meet this criteria and would be willing to assist us on Sundays, will you please email Pastor Chip and let him know of your availability? Thanks for your consideration.
Saturday
Our next SPARKY! (Support Pasadena and Altadena Restaurants with Kevin, Y’all!) event is happening tomorrow at Miya in Altadena, June 28th, at 12pm. Let Kevin know you’ll be there (and let him know if a business you love was affected by the fires and needs support)! No need for a flyer or code. Just show up, order, and eat!
Sunday
The Chapel will be open this last Sunday of June from 9-10am before worship. Come to light a candle, sit and pray, or ask a prayer team member to pray with you in this space and process the lament of current events.
Join us at 10:30am for worship in the Sanctuary! Our scripture this week is 1 Kings 8:27-30. The nursery will be open as usual for our toddlers and babies. Our kids five years old and up can join us for the first part of worship, and then will be dismissed to their classrooms with their leaders. Our youth are invited to join us for our regular lunch and fellowship after service. The Prayer team will be available at the front of the Sanctuary toward the end of the service to pray with those who would like to receive prayer.
Stay for our All-Church potluck this Sunday, June 29th, after worship in the gym. Based on your last name, if you’re able, please bring a main dish (A-J), a side or salad (K-R), or dessert (S-Z) of about 8-10 servings to share with your friends here at FBCP. Join our amazing Volunteer Squad and help with set up or clean up.
The Friends In Deed food pantry item this week is canned meats.
Friends In Deed Drive
It’s that time of year when First Baptist Church of Pasadena invites you to participate in our partner organization Friends In Deed's Backpack + School Supply Drive. In partnership with Friends In Deed, if you are able, please consider bringing any of these items to the Connections Desk on Sundays between July 6th and July 20th (items may also be dropped off to the church office Mondays-Thursdays between 9am-3pm). If you prefer to donate money, visit fbcpasadena.com/giving, select “Friends In Deed” from the drop down menu, and Shawn will shop for you!
Coming Up
Keep an eye on our Community Engagement page for the latest ways to stay involved in supporting our neighbors.
Join us on Saturday, July 19th, at 9am for our quarterly Men’s Breakfast in the Park off Union St. You won’t want to miss the meal or the time of fellowship together. Text “bacon” to 626.727.9498 to RSVP.
Our Grief Group will meet on Sunday, July 20th, at 9am in the Parlor. It is a space for anyone experiencing grief or loss to be with others in a similar season. Reach out to Jon Rinkus if you are interested in joining this group. Jon is a trained Hospital Chaplain through Fuller and provides a rich space for folks to process grief.
Community Dinners return on Friday, July 25th! This is a favorite FBCP tradition and a chance to sign up and be assigned to a dinner at a host’s home around the city and get to know about six other folks around the table. Let Pastor Chip know if you’d like to host a dinner this time around. We’ll start sign-ups for participants in July. Hope you can make it!
SCHOLARSHIPS
Each year the FBCP Foundation awards scholarships to FBCP members for post-secondary education. Church members interested in applying for the 2025-2026 academic year can apply here. Applications are due Sunday, July 6, 2025. The Foundation is a separate entity established in 1958 by members committed to contributing financially to the church in the present and future years.
